A question that not enough people are asking is this:

Having a roof over your head is a basic necessity, fundamental to your happiness and wellbeing.

But we don't need to tell you that.

So here’s something perhaps a bit more useful – a little roof maintenance tip from us to you :)

Pay very close attention to the color of your roof. Over time, areas of your roof may become streaked with mold, algae, or fungus.

If left untreated, these will deteriorate the roofing material, decrease the lifespan of your roof, and invite other issues, such as leaks.

To prevent this, consider installing zinc strips.

These are engineered to provide safe and long term protection from fungus, mold, mildew, moss, and algae.

Treat your roof with love and it will protect you from the elements for years to come!

Look no further… Call (OR TEXT!) us today and we’ll get you taken care of in no time!

Some things just aren’t meant to wobble around.

For example, something you (hopefully) use every day, but never think about:

Your showerhead.

If you have a wobbly showerhead, or even some wobbly pipes – here a tip for you:

The secret to success is expanding foam.

Tape up the area surrounding where the pipe enters the wall to protect it from the foam. Then, simply spray the foam into the empty space between the pipe and the wall, and watch it work its magic!

That's it – your family and friends will see you as the most handy person around, and you barely had to lift a finger!

We won't tell them how easy it was, promise ;)

How much money can I save by installing insulation in my home?
The answer, while not so simple, shouldn’t come as a surprise.
When you consider the fact that a poorly insulated home will lose lots of heat – you start to see the bigger picture.
Less insulative power = more energy spent heating your home = more money down the drain.
Better insulation = less money on energy.
Pro tip, especially if you live in an igloo.

Intimidated by insulation?

Don’t be!

Proper use of insulation is one of the best ways to ensure that your roof is long lasting and defends effectively against the elements.

We recommend including a gap-free layer of insulation on your attic floor, as well as a v***r retarder underneath to stop moisture from rising into the attic area.

Also, allow at least one inch between your insulation and roof sheathing. This will create an open, ventilated space for air to pass freely.

Follow these tips and your roof will protect you from the elements for years to come!

Are your shingles in shambles?

The shingles on your roof are exposed to daily wear and tear from the elements outside.

This can cause your shingles to wear out and fall apart – and that's a big problem.

The shingles are there to protect your roof and interior space from water seepage and rot.

Without them, your roof, and your home by extension, become much more vulnerable to serious damage.

So a word to the wise:

Inspect your roof coverings each year to ensure that you discover any problems before they get out of hand!

Call (OR TEXT!) us today and we’ll get your roofing done in no time!

I’m trying to insulate the house asbestos I can!

Ok… Sorry about that.

You’ve heard of asbestos, the carcinogenic material commonly used as insulation – at least until they discovered its adverse effects in the 1970s [x over eyes emoji]

Thankfully, it was phased out and we’ve switched to a much safer option – fiberglass.

But, before that, what were people using to insulate their homes?

Both the ancient Egyptians and the Vikings used to stuff mud bricks in their walls to trap in the heat.

In the middle ages, many houses used a mixture of mud and straw – they had leveled up in the insulation game.

But, interestingly enough, it was the ancient Greeks who first started using a more modern form of insulation, the infamous asbestos.

Asbestos actually translates to “inextinguishable” – they were fascinated by its resistance to fire.

So before you start making mud bricks for your house, consider buying some batts of fiberglass insulation – and keep your family warm and safe through the winter months!

When we were kids, we thought the insulation in our walls was cotton candy.

Thankfully our parents told us not to take a bite!

Many of us have never given it a second thought since. But if you are a homeowner, it could be worth your while…

So let's pack our brains tight with some insulation information.

Obviously, insulation is what keeps the heat trapped inside our homes.

We measure the effectiveness of insulation with something called “R-value”. The higher the value, the more resistant it is to heat – and the more insulated your house will be.

An improperly insulated home can cost you greatly in energy bills…

So make sure that when you are insulating your home, you get the good stuff – and dont forget to pack it tight!

It’s OK – we understand if you're not walking around all day dreaming about shingles.

That's what roofers are for :)

But you must remember, no house is a home without a roof.

Maintaining your roof is essential to keeping your home safe and secure.

So we want to open up the floor – or the ceiling – for any questions you may have about roofing, maintaining your roof, or about the work that we do on a daily basis.

Drop your question in the comments below and we’ll be happy to share our knowledge and expertise.

So without further adieu, let’s raise the roof!
