Everyone Needs a White Knight
I had the pleasure of speaking to Warren Hancock, owner of White Knight Home Services. Handyman work is generally the stuff around the house that you take for granted – until it doesn't work, it breaks, or you realize you really don't want to do 'that.' The 'that' can be anything simple from hanging a picture or changing a light bulb to more difficult things like dr
ywall repair, replacing baseboards or even replacing that mailbox that's fallen down. No longer do a handyman's clients mostly consist of widows and divorcees; handymen are coming to the rescue of busy business people who don't want to be spending their precious spare time making small repairs around the house. Warren started White Knight after his sister and a friend suggested that he should start a handyman business – after all, he was already doing it for them! You can hear the passion in Warren's voice when he talks about the different jobs he's done for people – repairing items and providing solutions to problems; he genuinely loves to help people, and the pride he takes in his work shows. Due to Warren's skills, professionalism and reliability, White Knight continues to grow rapidly. Warren, a graduate of North Penn High School's industrial arts department, spent two years in a custom woodworking program before apprenticing with a fine cabinet maker in the area. While later attending the Rhode Island School of Design, he developed skills in bicycle repair and maintenance, and from there he opened his own bike shop in Quakertown which he owned and operated for 13 years. The name White Knight came as a suggestion from his wife who reminded Warren that his father had been knighted after WWII at the British Embassy for work he did for allied forces headquarters. What better name than to honor his father while running a business that comes to people's rescue.
