Springfield Greenery

Springfield Greenery Call for appointment! Springfield Greenery began in 1971 as a retail greenhouse primarily growing and selling tropical houseplants. Over the next 43 yrs.

the business expanded and offered a guaranteed plant maintenance service which included the grand staircase of the Philadelphia Museum of Art for 17 yrs. Following a near fatal car crash Doug the operator of the greenery was married to Linda an Occupational Therapist with whom Doug worked part time at Horsham Clinic. In 1999 Linda joined Doug at the business full time. Linda brought valuable contr

ibutions with her artistic skills, organization talents and a much appreciated superior memory. During the ensuing years the landscape, container & garden design/installation part of the business grew as did the hours required to do the work. Linda and Doug decided that to continue their personal hands on style of retail as well as the detail centered gardening service could not be maintained any longer due to the time commitment. Springfield Greenery's mission will always be to provide personal service and the finest quality plant material available. We both are healthy and ready to provide plants and service to all of our customers. Customers can still order their favorite plants through us by calling or emailing us. We will glad to deliver them to your door.

Love gardening but hate the dirt that gets lodged underneath your nails? A simple way to prevent dirty fingernails is to run your fingers across a bar of soap. Nothing will be able to become lodged in your nails when you have it filled with soap. Washing out the soap when you’re done is simple and easy too.

While it is tempting to buy a plant that’s laden with flowers, this may not be the best choice. A plant that’s in bud will be a much better buy, as if you have a little patience it will bloom for longer when you get it home.

Believe it or not, but flowers can sometimes save lives. That at least was the case for an army of Scots fleeing from the Vikings hundreds of years ago. The Vikings were caught up by wild patches of thistle which gave the Scots enough time to escape the conquerors. This is why thistle is Scotland’s national flower.

With the Amaryllis flowering plant, large clusters of trumpet-shaped blooms can be expected and may last for as long as six weeks. This plant requires bright light and evenly moist soil to bloom and should be kept in a warm area to encourage new growth.

If you are thinking about your garden over the long term, then you may want to consider perennials over annuals. While the life span of a perennial plant will vary from species to species, it can be anywhere from a few years to several hundred years.

Unfortunately, selecting the wrong plants for your garden could create more work than you’re willing to put in outside your home. If you can give us some basic information about your soil, we may be able to help you select the best plants for your needs.

If you’re looking for good parts for your car, you’d go to an expert in cars, right? The same thing is true with plants for your garden. Getting your plants from a nursery is the best way to make sure the “parts” of your garden last a long time.
