This customer hired me to fix a leaky bathtub spout. This was basically an uncomplicated shower cartridge mixing valve (Moen Posi-Temp) replacement. Took literally about 30 mins to fix (w/ the preferred tools i.e. Moen cartridge extractor). Leak fixed and another happy customer!

This customer (Peoria, AZ) hired me to install a new toilet and bidet. Aside from the installing the new toilet, I need to replace the shut-off valve since it was no longer working.

The job threw me a curve when I lifted the old toilet out of place to discover that metal toilet ring attached to the fl**ge had detached from the fl**ge and was still attached to the toilet. As I inspected the fl**ge more closely, I discovered that the reason why the metal mounting ring lifted away from the fl**ge is because it wasn't fastened into the mortar at all! If you look closely you can see that there is no mortar around half of the fl**ge for me to secure the mounting ring on top. Long story short, I had to fill around the toilet fl**ge w/ both a conventional mortar and a self-leveling mortar to provide a solid surface on which to secure the mounting ring. Definitely did not see that as being part of the job.

Nonetheless, once the mortar dried, I successfully mounted the ring around the drainage fl**ge and completed the install. This job took a couple hours longer than intended because of the unexpected complication. The charge to the customer was more than the initial quote because of the complication but when I showed the customer the issue and explained that the mounting ring and fl**ge was never installed properly, she understood and was happy I discovered the flaw. The consequence of the faulty fl**ge/metal ring installation is that the toilet was barely if at all secured to the floor. It was fasten down to the mounting ring but the mounting ring was not fastened to the floor in any significant way and so any substantial force could potentially cause the toilet to shift and generate a leak between the toilet and the waxed fl**ge. The moral to the story is, every job worth doing is a job worth doing to the best of your skill-set.

This customer recently moved into a new home. The electrical plug for their clothes dryer unit (3-prong) was not compatible with the existing outlet in the home (4-prong). So I changed the outlet making it compatible (4-prong to 4-prong) with the customer's dryer unit.
Note in the pictures that when I opened and extracted the outlet from the wall, I noticed that the existing wire (red) had actually been damaged during its installation which had bare copper exposed on a hot wire posing a substantial risk of fire if any ground wire came into contact with that hot wire while that outlet was installed. This is why I no longer use metal tools to stuff wiring back into a junction box. Metal tools such as plyers or screw drivers of any type can easily damage wire insulation especially when the wiring is old and brittle, causing that wire to be exposed and a potential risk for arcing. Nonetheless, 3-prong outlet installed and tested for a successful install.

This customer, my #1 customer (wife), was considering replacing the front entry doors with brand new doors. However, because the standard dimensions of front doors have changed since our home was constructed over 30 yrs ago, replacement of these doors at this point in time would be considered custom ($3K - $4K total) per two estimates. So instead I decided to refurbish the doors myself and exceeded my own expectations!!!

1) Corrected all holes or scratches on the door and "wet sanded" the filler .
2) Removed and replaced existing hardware (i.e., hinges, lockset, etc.) with new hardware but reinstalled the existing manual/analogue door bell.
3) Applied two coats of Dunn Edwards Sparta Wall exterior paint to all sides of the doors.
4) Reinstalled doors.
5) Applied new door trim which included caulking and paint.

What I got was a refurbished entry way that actually looks like brand new doors.

Cost to replace existing doors... $3K - $4K.
Cost to refurbish existing doors... approximately $200, not including labor.
Saving $3200+ to get a new looking entryway... PRICELESS!!!

This customer (Phoenix) recently had a bathroom remodeled which included removing a thick tile to replace it with a quality LVP (luxury vinyl plan) flooring. In doing so the gap between the flooring and the door increased significantly creating a privacy issue. So instead of replacing the door I simply resolved the issue by extending the door downward by one inch, closing the gap. The customer was very happy because there were no visible indications that the door had been lengthened and no need to buy a new door to replace the old.

Customer (Avondale, AZ) recently hired me to tie up some "loose ends" on a bathroom remodel. Those "loose ends" included mounting all of the bathroom wall hardware for towels, robe, toilet paper, etc.. Also included repairing a drain for one of the bathroom vanity sinks, mounting the vanity mirrors, installing new cabinet hardware where there was none previously, and lastly wiring for two new separate light fixtures where there was formerly one and installing the new fixtures.
As usual, the customer was very please with the work and plans to have me return next week to fix an issue with a newly installed shower transfer control valve not working.
