2023 was a busy year of building. Here are some of my favorite photos and projects

Big 2022 project brought to a close as snow sets in. The clients Jacob Elliott and Camille Thomen-Brown were great collaborators in bringing the abandoned, shoddy, 1960's building to Vermont Energy code standards. Thank you to all of the project crew: Pavel Cherkasov, William Woodard, Evan Book, Keith Clark, Emilia Olson, David Scheckman, David Hansen, Rain Rogen, Rock Solid Granite, Techno Metal Posts, and Suncommon. Thanks also to all of our suppliers. We always tried to go local. The clients performed some thankless tasks along with friends and family including demo and exterior painting. The solar array will be installed on the southern roof pitch toward the end of 2022. The full project album can be viewed in the photos section of the home page. Snow and rain, mud and sun, the season washed over our work. Building in Vermont is a challenge. We each performed our tasks and hope the house will give Jake and Camille a place to settle and continue to build a meaningful life.

Projects from the past year or so.

Me and W***y are Wallers! We did the best we could with what we had. Primitive satisfaction in laying stones. Dry-laid except for a bit of mortar underneath the cap stones. Work with Will Woodard at Gary Goulette’s place in Plainfield.

Devons porch renovation May/June 2020. Apartment space about 230 sq ft. Lots of salvaged materials. Old doors, old cast iron sinks, old trim material, old windows. Can’t think what else but pretty much everything was old except for the new stuff.

Perchlik project of late 2019. 29 Franklin St Montpelier. Besides the kitchen, the entire exterior was renovated. I will post pictures of that work when I get there in the daylight for photos. It was a great job that surpassed all our expectations. Thank you to MaryAnne and Andy Perchlik, Ward Joyce, Hans Stewart, Keith Clark, Gary Goulette, Pavel Cherkasov, David Hansen and George Dinculescu.

Moorman House 2018. Montpelier VT. 700 sq ft. Not quite tiny house. Thank you to John, Pavel, Gary, Keith, Emilia, George, Damian, and Jared. Nice to work with the clients Jesse and Carol. Enjoy the space.
