On march 20, i am mailing out fully stratified paw paw seeds. They are taken out of stratification and mailed the same day still in a small amount of peet moss. Inside the package there are listed the steps I take for planting and germination. Please let me know the results of your plantings. I expect near 80 percent germination. Any questions, just ask. I will be mailing out my fully stratified pawpaw seeds on 3/20/26. I will take them out of stratification and mail them that same day. They will arrive to my customers moist and still retaining some of the peet moss they were stratified in. Upon receipt, I would plant the seeds in a 5 gallon tree pot containing 60 percent potting soil and 40 percent peet moss. I plant 25 seeds, at a depth of 3/4 inch, in each tree pot. The soil should be premoistened before planting and then water every 5 to 7 days. Don’t overwater but keep soil somewhat moist. The pawpaw seedlings should emerge between 70 and 105 days. Try to keep the temperature at least 69 degrees and the direct lighting at no more then 9 hrs per day. Let the seedlings grow to about 6 inches before transplanting them in 4” by 4” by 14” pots. Be careful when transplanting as you don’t want to damage the long tap root. I sell 45 plus seeds for &25 plus $10 for tax and mailing. I accept cash, check, or venmo@DKSpawpaws. Upon receipt of my fully stratified pawpaw seeds, I, personally, would immediately plant these seeds in a 5 gallon tree pot. The soil in my pot is a mixture of 70 percent potting soil and 30 percent peet moss. I plant 25 seeds per pot and at a depth of 1 inch. Keep the soil moist and water about every 5 days. If water comes out the bottom of the 5 gallon pot, you are watering too much. Peet moss retains a large amount of water. Try to keep the potted seeds at near or slightly above 70 degrees. It takes around 90 days for the plant to emerge, but some may emerge as early as 60 days or as long as 120 days. I use a 5 gallon pot to allow tap root growth which can go as deep as 10 to 12 inches. I, personally, have the seeds under grow lights from the beginning to increase temperature, but after emergence I keep them under light about 8 hours a day. I expect everyone to get at least 75 to 80 percent emergence. My fully stratified paw paw seeds will be mailed out 03/20/26. My pawpaw seeds were collected in late Sept and early Oct. Upon extracting the seeds I would clean them and and let them soak in water for 3 to 4 hrs. Then I dry them and immediately put them in a plastic sealed bag with moist peet moss. They are then put in the refrigerator for 3 to 4 months to stratify. After stratification, on 1/17/26, I take the seeds out of the fridge and mail them that day, still in some moist peet moss. I mail them priority 3 day. I accept venmo@DKSpawpaws. I have been stratifying paw paw seeds since late September. They are in peet moss and will be until 1/15/26 when I will take them out of stratification and immediately mail them moist and still in peet moss. 45 seeds for $25 plus $10 mailing and tax. I accept checks or venmo@DKSpawpaws. Last year my customers averaged 75 to 80 percent emergence.

These are the largest pawpaws I have ever grown individually let alone in a group of four. I would estimate each pawpaw to be at least 7 ounces. Over 150 pawpaws have fallen but there are a least 100 pawpaws still on the 4 trees. I have been stratifying pawpaw seeds in moist peet moss and will take them out of stratification around 1/15/26 for immediate planting. 45 to 50 moist stratified pawpaw seeds for $25. There is an additional $10 mailing charge and they will be mailed moist and in peet moss on day taken out of stratification, around 1/15/26. I accept cash, checks, or Venmo@DKSpawpaws. Last year my clients averaged 80 percent emergence.

It appears that the pawpaws are falling earlier. Perhaps it’s the dry weather or the extreme heat. I have placed many into stratification already. Around 1/17/26 I will be selling 45 stratified pawpaws for $25 with an additional $10 charge for mailing. The seeds are in peet moss while being stratified and you will receive them in the same peet moss. Last year my customer had a 75 to 80 percent growth rate. That means, if planted correctly, you will get 30 to 35 pawpaw seedlings approximately 60 to 110 days after planting. I accept cash, checks, or venmo@DKSpawpaws.
