We take a lot of pride in how we take care of our customers’ lawns!! It has been raining so much that these lawns are very wet. It is not always possible to mow with the heavy mowers - this is what contributed to the picture at the bottom. Please don’t let your lawn service do this to your lawn. These pics of these 2 different houses in the same neighborhood were taken on the same day.

So Terry and I have been wanting to post tips/info on proper lawn maintenance and Palm tree pruning. Many companies do not trim palms properly and actually leave them unhealthy or more likely to be damaged in a hurricane. Last year - Terry witnessed palm trees being pruned incorrectly just before Hurricane Matthew and months later - some of those palms had died. We are attaching an article with many references about proper palm tree pruning! Please be educated and aware of companies that will be trying to make money this week to "prepare" for the hurricane.

One of our customers allowed us to post pictures of their lawn. The before pic was 2 years ago and the after picture is current. This is evidence of properly maintained St. Augustine grass. St Augustine grass should be cut at the correct height- about 4 1/2 to 5 inches. Grass soaks up the sun through each blade of grass - the longer the blade the more sun it gets which makes the plant (lawn) healthier. But you don't want it to be any longer because it will attract insects.

It has definitely been a very dry summer! We are so glad that we are finally getting some rain- we would have been just fine if it didn't take a hurricane to bring the rain though!! We are fortunate that we did not get any damage and our customers on the east coast seemed to have faired the hurricane pretty well. But we also know there were many people that did get damage and we are keeping them in our thoughts and prayers as they recover.
