Our "black gold" fungal-dominated microbial inoculated biochar is cultivated with a wide spectrum of minerals. We use a custom blend of minerals from the sea of Cortez and crystallized volcanic ash. We also inoculate with only the best microbiology: veganic earthworm castings from California (a blend of OGS premium earthworm castings and calijuana Republic brand castings). Our biochar is created from sustainably sourced 100% natural oak and hickory hard woods.
Our Black Gold Biochar is composted in an oxygen rich environment until maturity (2 weeks minimum) which promotes fungal microorganisms to thrive and dominate. Why? Fungal-dominated soils build big strong healthy root structures (This allows the plant to uptake as much nutrients and minerals as possible) resulting in bigger yields of delicious produce that have high nutritional values.
Why biochar is the #1 soil amendment:
1 gram of biochar (about the size of a pencil eraser) has about 9000 sqft of surface area. 9000 sqft for microorganisms, nutrients, and minerals to absorb into and call their home.
Unlike other soil amendments that decompose and need to be replenished year after year, biochar retains its perfect carbon structure for hundreds of years.
Biochar is the "sponge of life" in living soils. It will retain moisture (along with nutrients, minerals, and microbiology) and during times of drought, it creates an environment for microbiology to survive in (which means your plants will stress less between watering and your soil biology won't die).
Biochar is like having millions of lifeboats for microorganisms during our rainy months in Florida. When it rains heavy for an extended period of time: microbiology, nutrients, and minerals get flushed out of garden soil ($$$$) but with biochar they get absorbed and stay right where they need to be (next to the roots).
We recommend adding a minimum of 20% mature inoculated biochar to all growing mediums. The industry is at 5-10% but if you want to get gourmet flavor with produce you'll need more horse power. However, any % of biochar is better then nothing (add what you can each year).
For amazing results we recommend using fabric airpots to air prone bigger healthier roots for more nutritional uptake.
We use the following mix for air pots and raised beds:
-20% black gold biochar
-20% expanded clay pebbles
-20% premium worm castings
-40% of your favorite organic raised bed or potting mix (we like ocean forest potting mix)
-1-2 cups neem seed meal
-1-2 cups kelp meal
-3-4 inch layer of organic multch (fallen leaves, hay, straw, natural wood chips)
- When watering this supersoil: use rain water or filtered water only. NEVER USE UNFILTERED FLORIDA TAP WATER. We use a mineral water recipe that soil biology thrive on and it will boost produce flavor (recipe will be given free on delivery).
We can save this planet if we all use biochar. Returning biomass as carbon/biochar into our soils reverses global warming. Through the process of photosynthesis, plants convert carbon dioxide from the air into organic material, or biomass. If that biomass is then used to create biochar and returned to the soil, it has the potential to keep the carbon dioxide from re-entering the atmosphere for an extremely long period of time.

**Before you go shopping for the lowest-priced biochar on Amazon. Keep in mind they don't have any minerals in them and they don't have the fungal -dominated microorganisms like we have. No way would we have our black gold sitting in an Amazon warehouse suffocating to death (seriously) in sealed plastic bags or buckets. Don't waste your money on that over priced "bio"char. Yes that biochar will work, but it will take a few years for it to inoculate itself in the soil (stealing nutrients from your plants). Regardless, you will need to buy minerals. 1 gallon of azomite rock dust is consumed by our microorganisms per 5 gallons of our Black Gold Biochar. Nobody makes premium mineral rich biochar like us.
What some of our satisfied customers have to say.
"Once you taste an organic fruit or vegetable grown in black gold biochar, you'll never grow without it" - valued customer
"I grew up eating Maryland tomatoes and I never could grow tomatoes down south that tasted like the ones from my childhood. I tried the black gold mineral biochar potting mix recipe and the filtered mineral water recipe... Let's just say I now grow upstate tomatoes in Florida! Absolutely mouth-watering upstate flavor!"
Our next 50 gallon batch of black gold biochar will be ready on 10/22/22.
