So happy for and proud of my amazing friends, Kristin and Drew! I got a special sneak peak at their book and it’s amazing! It’s a must have in every PNW gardener’s library.
It’s here!! Today is the day!! The release date for our book, “The Pacific Northwest Native Plant Primer” is today! We are thrilled to share our labor of love with PNW gardeners and plant lovers. We hope this book will inspire people to not only see the beauty in PNW native plants, but also the beauty in supporting biodiversity in our gardens and landscaping. With human-dominated landscapes replacing natural ones at a staggering rate, resulting in habitat loss and species extinction, now is the time for us all to PLANT NATIVE PLANTS! Join us in our vision to enjoy the beauty of PNW native plants while reknitting fragmented habitat and creating a refuge for species of plants and wildlife in our own backyards. Turn your fear of pollinator decline into hope as you foster a native plant garden that can feed and support native bees and butterflies. Stem the tide of species extinction by planting native plants that benefit birds and other wildlife. Your own backyard can be a place where even the littlest action can have a big impact on ensuring a better future for all, humans included 😉 Although it says in the title that the book covers 225 PNW native plants, it actually covers many more than that as we make suggestions of alternate species for alternate habitats and ecoregions in many of the plant profiles. The PNW is a botanically rich place and we hope that all who read and use this book as a reference will be inspired to learn more about the plants that live near them and share their home. Lets give the incredible flora of the PNW the respect it deserves and the space and care it requires to thrive!
