What a crazy couple of weeks it’s been!

My oldest graduated from high school, I’ve been busy with markets at Vintage 61, planning Butterflies at Black Rock, and now getting ready for another event with Schuylkill Connects.

It’s been a whirlwind, but I’m so excited for what’s coming next.

I’m finally getting ready to share the full Butterflies at Black Rock lineup, and I can’t wait for you to see who’s joining us this year.

The Wandering Meadow will be at Vintage 61 Markets for the very first market of the season — and I’m bringing a little extra magic with me.

I’ll have a small craft table set up for the little wanderers (and their grownups) + a mini Easter hunt tucked in throughout the market space. Think simple, sweet, nature-inspired fun.

POTTSVILLE — Beneath a sturdy oak, Patrick “Porcupine Pat” McKinney scrapes up a handful of acorns.

To most others, the abundance of acorns amid an oak tree’s fallen leaves would go unnoticed.

To a seasoned observer of nature, however, the exceptional harvest of acorns is a sign of an earlier and colder than normal winter.

“When you see squirrels scurrying to gather acorns, that’s a sign that we’re headed for a tough winter,” said McKinney, a semi-retired environmental educator at the Schuylkill Conservation District.
