It all began with me growing too many plants from seed. I sold my leftovers in about 2000 to donate to the Christin Lamb Memorial Garden. I did that for a few years and then involved our local gardening club. We became part of the local Cinco de Mayo celebration. I realized we were on to something. People loved our plants.
In 2004 we moved to the fairgrounds thus the Home & Garden Expo was born. We advertised for vendors to help pay for the building. We had 9 vendors that first year. The involvement with the gardening organization ended, but 5 of the growers continued on. We used youth organizations for concessions as we still do. We acquired some vendors who are still with us today.
The demand for people wanting to be a vendor continued. We spread to 3 buildings at the fairgrounds. We had a young farmer join our list of growers. Scott from Shoshone River Farms became one of our more prolific growers. One of the large buildings at the fairgrounds was found to be a hazard and we had to limit our list of vendors. In 2016 we were able to move into a brand new building. The Park County Master Gardeners came on board to sell plants as well.
So we continue on.
