Well Grounded

Well Grounded Well Grounded is Service Learning group that encourages high school students to explore careers through mentorships with participating professionals.

Well Grounded is a group of students from Falmouth High School that seek to improve the appearance of the campus and care for existing trees and plantings. These students hope to revive the Horticulture program at the school and eventually restore the Green House to grow plants. These students are also taking part in Project Based Learning and will be learning about different businesses in the com

munity that are in the Horticulture/Landscaping field. By the end of this school year they will know all of the possibilities within this field from starting your own landscaping business to attending a four year college to study Horticulture and BEYOND! They will also be giving back to their community by getting involved with local non-profits that need landscaping work as well as working on their own school.They learn to work together as a team, collaborate on ideas THEY come up with and problem solve. the goal is for them to leave school with employable skills as well as a meaningful experience. For the services they offer they are also potential scholarship recipients as they will be taking part in many community service projects. They make connections within the community to many business/civic leaders which also offers many possibilities.

Well Grounded will now be offering students with an interest in any career path the opportunity to job shadow with a local participating professional. Students can take part in the Med Start program, which will be open to juniors at Falmouth High School. There are also MANY shadowing experiences to help prepare for life beyond high school. We will work hard to make the connection for you to reach your goals.

Please come visit the Well Grounded table at the Winter Farmer's Market at Mahoney's. This is TOMORROW-JANUARY 30!!! The students will be raising funds for Serenity Farm. This is an animal rescue open to the public right here in town. These animals deserve a second chance and need your help. Please spread the word and come see the slideshow of our new farm friends.

At Serenity Farm to meet the rescued farm animals today.
