My husband is collecting eggs this week. He knew I’d want to know about getting a new layer and sent this pic! That’s a new Silverudds egg!

I’m at a conference in Arizona this week. Finding beauty in a different type of landscape. Meanwhile, my awesome husband is doing the egg collecting and chick care!

Today I gathered together with fellow farm stand/homesteaders for a lovely day discussing ideas, sharing gifts, and enjoying brunch. Such a nice time! Thank you Sarah and Farm and Flour Homestead for hosting.

In celebration of National Customer Service Week my Egg Club members were given a complementary dozen eggs today. One of my customers surprised me with this beautiful quilted tapestry. 💕

The chicks were moved to the transitional coop over the weekend. Of course, I found them in a dog pile on the ground in the dark so we started roost training. I placed each one onto the roost. and they stay put because chickens don’t see well at night. Doing this nightly for a week usually teaches them what to do. I’m also considering adding an older hen to the coop, who will automatically roost, and show them what to do.

I was so excited last week when I got a “purple”egg (a dark brown egg with heavy bloom). A friend, who hatched some of our eggs, just sent me her lavender egg picture. Now I have to figure out how to make this a regular thing!
