With everything happening in the world right now — wars, division, fear, and uncertainty — it feels like many people are searching for something solid to hold on to. The truth is, the world has always been unstable when we try to build our hope on things that were never meant to last.
But God gives us something far stronger than the shifting foundations of this world.
The Bible says in Colossians 2:7 (KJV):
“Rooted and built up in him, and stablished in the faith, as ye have been taught, abounding therein with thanksgiving.”
When our lives are rooted in Christ, we are not easily shaken. Just like a tree with deep roots can withstand the wind and storms, a life grounded in faith can endure whatever the world throws at it.
Jesus Christ is the only true foundation that never fails. No matter what happens around us, those who put their trust in Him have something unshakable beneath their feet.
John 14:6 (KJV) reminds us:
“Jesus saith unto him, I am the way, the truth, and the life: no man cometh unto the Father, but by me.”
In times like these, it’s a good reminder to stay grounded in faith, stay thankful, and remember where our true strength comes from.
On another note, as the weather begins warming up here in Reno, trees are starting to wake up for the season. This is a great time of year to take care of pruning, removing deadwood, and making sure trees are healthy and safe before the strong summer winds arrive.
If anyone around the area needs help with their trees, feel free to reach out anytime. I’m always happy to take a look and help however I can.
Stay safe out there everyone, and God bless.

🌳 Hazardous Elm Tree Removal – Safe, Technical, and Necessary 🌳

This elm had a severe structural defect due to included bark—a condition where bark becomes embedded between two co-dominant stems. This prevents proper wood-to-wood attachment, significantly weakening the union over time. The result? A high risk of stem failure, especially when compounded by internal decay.

In this case, the central union had advanced rot and structural compromise, making the tree a clear hazard. Its location added to the complexity: towering directly over a fence, adjacent to a single-story apartment unit where people live, and close to the homeowner’s residence on the other side.

Given the potential for catastrophic failure, full removal was the only responsible option. We implemented advanced rigging and climbing techniques to safely dismantle the tree in sections, controlling every piece to avoid damage to the structures below.

This was a precision job that required knowledge, skill, and planning—and it was completed safely and efficiently. 🌲

If you have trees with visible defects or suspect structural issues, don’t wait. Preventative action can protect your property—and more importantly, the people around it.

Structure Clearance Pruning – Oak Tree Adjacent to Residence

Performed a targeted structural clearance prune on a mature oak to create safe, code-compliant separation between the tree’s canopy and the home’s roofline and siding. Selective cuts were made to mitigate branch encroachment over the roof and windows, reducing the risk of limb failure during wind or snow load events. All pruning cuts followed ANSI A300 standards for tree care, preserving branch collar integrity and overall tree health.

While a full crown cleaning and canopy balancing is always the recommended approach to promote long-term health and structural stability, this project focused strictly on achieving effective clearance for insurance compliance and homeowner safety.

If you're simply looking to gain space between your trees and your home to stay within insurance requirements and reduce risk—without the added cost of a full prune—this is a cost-effective solution I proudly offer. It’s efficient, practical, and gets the job done right.

At Nevada Native Tree Care, I approach every job with the same expert precision and care you’d expect from the best in the business. Whether it’s a comprehensive pruning plan or a straightforward structure clearance, your trees are in the most capable hands. The Arborist Trees Trust Most.

Don’t Let Tree Supports Turn Into Tree Stranglers

At Nevada Native Tree Care, we’re passionate about protecting the health and structure of our urban forest. One of the most common issues we see in young landscape trees is improperly managed support systems—stakes, guys, and ties that were never removed.

When a tree is planted, staking or guying may be necessary to provide temporary support as it establishes a stable root system. But these materials are not meant to be permanent. Left in place too long, they can girdle the trunk—cutting into the bark and damaging the cambium layer, the living tissue responsible for water, nutrient, and carbohydrate transport.

Over time, this can lead to reduced vigor, restricted growth, bark dieback, internal decay, and ultimately structural failure.

Here's what responsible tree care looks like:

Inspect all staking and guying materials regularly.

Remove them after one growing season, or as soon as the tree is stable on its own.

Use wide, flexible, and tree-safe materials to avoid bark damage during the support period.

Never allow wire or ties to contact the trunk directly, especially without a protective buffer.

These small actions make a big difference in the long-term health of our trees. A tree’s early years are critical—proper guidance now can prevent failure later.

If you’re unsure whether your young trees still need support, or if you suspect damage from old ties or wires, let us know. Nevada Native Tree Care is here to help homeowners make informed decisions that support a stronger, safer, and more resilient urban canopy in Reno.

🌳✨ Essential Tree Care Tips for Your Reno Landscape! ✨🌳

Caring for your trees in Reno’s unique climate is crucial to their health and longevity. Whether you’re a new homeowner or an experienced gardener, these simple tree care tips will help you keep your trees thriving all year long!

1. Deep Watering = Strong Roots! 💧

In Reno’s dry climate, it's important to deeply water your trees. Watering thoroughly once a week helps promote strong, deep roots that can better survive drought. Young trees need extra water, but mature trees will do well with this deep watering method, especially during the hot months.

2. Prune for Health & Structure! ✂️

Pruning is essential for maintaining healthy trees. Focus on removing dead, damaged, or diseased branches to improve airflow and reduce disease risk. It's also great for shaping the tree and allowing light to reach all parts. Winter is typically the best time for pruning, but always consider the tree species when deciding when to prune.

3. Mulch for Moisture Retention 🌱

A 2-4 inch layer of mulch around the base of your tree helps conserve moisture, regulate soil temperature, and prevent w**d growth. Just be sure to keep the mulch away from the tree’s trunk to avoid rot and fungus. Mulch is an easy and effective way to give your trees the extra care they need!

4. Keep an Eye on Pests 🐜

Watch for signs of pests such as unusual spots on leaves or holes in bark. Early detection is key to stopping pest damage before it spreads. Trees can be vulnerable to various pests like aphids, borers, and scale insects. Monitoring your trees regularly will help you identify potential problems early on.

5. Healthy Soil = Healthy Trees! 🌍

Your trees' health depends largely on the quality of the soil they grow in. Healthy soil supports root growth and provides essential nutrients. For best results, ensure your tree is planted in well-draining soil and consider using organic matter to improve its structure.

6. Support Young Trees 🌳

Young trees need extra support to grow strong. Use staking to help them grow straight and strong, but remember to remove stakes after a year or so once the tree has established itself. This allows your tree to develop its own strength and resilience.

By following these simple tree care tips, you’ll help your trees thrive in Reno's challenging climate. Healthy trees not only look great but also contribute to a healthier environment. 🌿 If you need assistance or have questions, Nevada Native Tree Care is here to help you with all your tree care needs!

From Bush to Tree: Structural Pruning Done Right!

These Elaeagnus angustifolia (Russian olive) looked more like overgrown bushes than trees when I got to them! They also had a lot of deadwood and broken limbs, which needed to go. Using proper pruning techniques, I focused on deadwood removal, crown raising, selective thinning, and structural training to turn them into actual trees. Now they have better airflow, improved form, and a stronger central leader—plus, they’re looking a lot cleaner and healthier!

Who knew these little guys had this much potential? Just needed the right cuts!

Nevada Native Tree Care LLC, I gave these Austrian black pines (Pinus nigra) a thorough crown cleaning to enhance their structure, health, and resilience. By carefully removing dead, broken, and crossing branches, I improved airflow to reduce wind resistance while preserving their natural form. Every cut was made with precision, following industry standards to promote strong, healthy growth. Proper pruning isn’t just about looks—it’s about longevity!
