Catherine Farmer Design

Catherine Farmer Design Good design brings clarity to the user, it has an innate feeling of “rightness”. The user experiences a sense of ease and welcome, of familiarity.

We respond to space, light, color, air. The designer, artist, photographer plays with those elements to present a vision, a feeling. There is no, "one size fits all", solution. Each project poses a number of questions; we work together, designer and client, to identify the questions and then, one by one, answer them.

My second floor apartment is available for short term rentals. It is fully furnished, has a washer/dryer and the light is lovely. When I moved here, it had three rooms and bath off a skinny hall. I moved the bearing walls, added salvaged flooring, built-in a laundry and walk-in closet, central air and reworked the sweet, but, small bath.
Message me; I am not planning on advertising it. Friends and friends of friends are welcome.

This is an ongoing project to begin to wrest the island from non-native species. We are planting native trees, shrubs, forbs and grasses to restore biodiversity. Part of our charge is to educate the public as to the benefits of restorations such as these.

Richmond Tree Stewards wanted a way to direct volunteers to our work site on Belle Isle. I based these signs on the idea of the "Burma Shave" road signs from the first half of the 20th century. The signs teach the benefits of native species in an engaging way.
