👗 #2 — The prices. £12.50 for slacks. £6.99 for a blouse. Nobody was pretending it was anything other than brilliant, honest value.

🍕 #3 — That café. Full to the brim every Saturday. Families actually sitting together. No phones. Just people, food, and time.

They closed Kmart. Nobody asked us if that was okay.
It wasn't.

3 things we did before screens existed — and that made us better for it:

👗 #1 — We dressed with respect. Even for a grocery run. You represented your family every time you walked out that door.

🌿 #2 — We worked together. Snapping beans on the porch wasn't a chore — it was family time that didn't need a name.

🚲 #3 — We learned by doing. A painted road in a schoolyard taught more about real life than any screen ever could.

Zero screens. All life.
That generation figured something out.

60 years later… it's hard to believe these were everyday prices in America. 😔

🍞 Bread — 22¢
⛽ Gas — 32¢ a gallon (and someone pumped it FOR you)
🥛 Milk — 55¢ in a real glass bottle
🏠 Rent — $120 a month

And somehow, families still made it work.
Dad paid the bills. Mom stretched every dollar.
And the family slept fine.

POV : it's the 70s and life is just... good. 🌻

You ran across the yard with your friends because that's what summer meant. You wore bell bottoms and earth tones and you looked incredible without trying. And you walked down the street with your girls, a lollipop in your hand, and absolutely nowhere you had to be.

No agenda. No algorithm. No comparison.
Just the 70s doing what the 70s did best.

3 things kids in the 60s did that nobody does anymore:

🚲 They rode bikes with a pack of friends — no phones, no GPS, no helmets, no schedule. Just "meet me outside" and you were gone.

🤍 They helped the elderly neighbor — not for a social media post. Not because someone told them to. Just because.

⚾ They played outside until the sun disappeared — their parents didn't have to force them outside. They had to force them INSIDE.

These weren't rules. These were just how things worked.
And the world was better for it. 🇺🇸

You pushed a cart through a real grocery store with real cashiers who knew your name. You put a dime in the jukebox and picked the song that defined your Saturday night. And you sat at the Woolworth counter for a Country Fried Steak that cost 65 cents — and it was perfect.

No delivery apps. No self-checkout. No playlists.
Just America at its absolute best.
