Designed and built by me — and this one took a twist I didn’t expect.

I built the base from 2x4s, paired it with a barnwood top, and somehow it turned into the clean, modern outdoor moment I didn’t even know I was aiming for.

Seeing it with the Adirondack chairs makes the whole setup feel complete.

Tell me what you think — should I build a matching bench next or start a second table for the other side?

If you’ve never joined two boards together, this is the simplest method to learn.

With this outdoor coffee table, I’m using figure‑8 fasteners to join the modern base with the new top — drilling the holes, aligning the joints, and locking everything together with screws.

Once you have your design, this step comes together fast. Clean joinery. Solid connection. Simple process.

Small details make the biggest difference — even in a mailbox makeover.

To keep faux flowers in place outside, I drill a tiny hole and push the stem right through. No filler, no mess, and it stays put even in wind. It’s one of the little tricks I used while rebuilding the mailbox corner at the lake house.

Full transformation drops next — follow along if you love purpose‑built projects.

If it’s the first thing people see when they arrive… it better set the tone.

Our lake house mailbox has been plain for way too long, so I rebuilt this entire area from the ground up — brick by brick, board by board — and it’s officially finished. A small project that completely changed the welcome moment to our home.

I love how happy this new little area makes me, and I hope our guests feel that same warmth when they pull in.

Looking forward to swapping the flowers with every Michigan season — still holding onto summer with my spring blooms, and fall is already peeking around the corner.

What part of your exterior would you refresh next?

If a space doesn’t feel like it belongs… I build until it does.

The mailbox at the lake house started as a plain white box on a pole — nothing welcoming, nothing intentional. So I rebuilt the whole corner around it. A framed planting bed, a custom hanging planter, a wrapped pole, a new sign with the house name, and the little details that make a tiny space feel like it matters.

And this is only phase one.

Follow along as I wrap up this project — more purpose‑built projects are coming.

Every entrance should feel like a welcome… even the mailbox.

This little corner was forgotten — just a white box stuck in the ground. So I started giving it the attention it deserved. Built out a planting area, created a custom planter, framed the pole, added a sign with our lake house name, and layered in the details that make it feel like home.

There’s more coming to this space, and more ways we’re making the lake house feel warm the moment you arrive.
Stick around — we’re building with purpose over here.

If your outdoor space is feeling a little “end‑of‑summer meh,” this is your reminder that color doesn’t have to fade. I refreshed a few spots with faux pieces from Naturae Decor, and the impact is instant — the ferns in my modern planter look good all year, and the white hanging blooms brighten everything from the fence to my short‑blooming tree. Zero maintenance, all the glow.

If you’re ready for an easy outdoor lift, save this carousel for inspo and tell me which spot you’d refresh first.
