This summer’s flowers remind me of my own growth over the past five years — how much I’ve learned, how much I didn’t even know I needed to learn, and how much joy the journey has brought.

I knew I’d learn about growing flowers (and there’s still so much to learn), but I didn’t expect how much I’d also grow in business, social media, and connecting with our community. The business side and social media have been a much bigger learning curve than the flowers themselves — and, wow, did I underestimate the time (and money) both take.

We’ve lived on this property for 24 years, but only in the last five have I truly felt like I’m growing with it — and at 56, I’ve found a passion that makes every challenge feel worth it and trust me, there have been plenty.

Happy 31st Anniversary to the guy who has been there for all of it!

Summer Solstice a week from today. Celebrate with a flower arranging class with local flowers!

If you came to the spring arranging class, don't forget you have a $15 credit to use!

Delphinium, ranunculus, bachelor buttons, baptista, peonies scabiosa, snapdragons and more. You choose your flowers and create a unique arrangement.

What a great way to start the weekend.

There is a class scheduled each month for the summer.

Celebrate the beauty of the season with a hands-on flower arranging class surrounded by the blooms growing right here on the farm. Using only locally grown flowers, you'll have access to the best of what's in bloom, with an abundance of colors, textures, and unique stems to choose from. Create your

I have been asked (often) the last few days... "any fun plans for the long weekend?"

Lol...yes, this is fun! And this does not include stuff in the basement, tubers in our guest room and my office.

Bring on summer!

PLEASE READ ALL THE WAY THROUGH

These flowers are stunning!! I get to say this, as I didn't grow most of them.

Besides showing you what my customers receive if my flowers aren't ready....you should know that most of them came from a true flower farm just north of me, Bleed Heart Floral. (mine is more of a micro, comparatively).

Allie and her husband Tony have grown this farm to something very significant for our state. She takes thousands of stems to Minneapolis once a week, combining with another flower farm in Minneapolis. They are very popular among event florists and the brick and mortar shops in the metro.

Allie was able to change designations at the state level for flower farms to be recognized as agriculture this past year. This was a huge, but necessary undertaking. They even have employees the past two summers due to their growth

So here is the frustrating part....they may literally lose the farm to the newest set of powerlines going through our area, The Gopher to Badger Link.

This would be a HUGE loss. The impact of the lack of locally grown/sustainable flowers would affect all of her customers in our area (and my customers), florists in our area that buy from her and then also the metro area.

What can you do? Watch the link below, read more and then call/email or both.

At the bottom of the link for the line, there is a place to submit comments.

Please take 5 min to write a message about the need for flowers as agriculture, that this is also their home with a young family and that this property was originally dismissed a few years ago due to it having a grove of very old hardwoods. That part hasn't changed.

Something similar to....

Locally grown flowers are part of a growing movement toward supporting small agriculture, pollinator health, and regional supply chains. A project of this scale risks undermining years of investment in local food and flower systems by making it harder for farms to operate successfully and remain economically viable. Protecting productive agricultural land and specialty crop farms should be considered an essential part of preserving local economies, rural character, and consumer choice.

Reaching out to the MN House of Representatives and State Senators...regardless of your area, as the impact extends to all of us who appreciate locally grown flowers.

Just catching up with May events.

Thank you again to Michael Grob of The Gwaltney Group - REMAX Results for recognizing the amazing moms at Jeremiah Program Rochester. His donation meant that each mom received a small bouquet of tulips (grown by us) for Mother's Day.
