This is a public service announcement from your local insulation expert here at KandJ spray foam insulation. Spraying open cell spray foam in a floor in a Pier and beam house is absolutely wrong. This must be a closed cell application in areas prone to moisture exposure, @ 2" of closed cell spray foam you create a v***r barrier. Open cell foam will never create a v***r barrier no matter how thick you spray, it is a semi-permeable material and will allow moisture to attack your floors. Over the years (15+) I have seen this happen on many occasions where in the end we have to remove all of the open cell and go back with closed cell because all of their floors have rotted. It's happening at the allegro North condominiums and all over the coast here in south Texas. Remember if the price seems too good.... Well we all know where that goes. If any local insulation companies would like to talk to me and educate themselves further please feel free to contact me, I want to be sure we're all doing the best in our industry and when the application is done wrong it hurts us all. Please feel free to ask any questions you want I'm here to help.
