Medical update: I started seeing a chiropractor that specializes in several areas one of them being Functional Neurological Disorders (FND). I’m seeing him 3x per week and seeing lots of improvements with sleep and walking and my shaking and jumping have drastically diminished.
Twice this week I was able to walk without a walker for a good bit of time.
I start with a new Physical Therapist in February through the UW health system.

I finally received my first long term disability check today (part of my benefit package through work). This takes a bunch of stress off of us as I haven’t been paid for the last 2 months.

Definitely moving some mountains over here! 🏔️ Nothing is impossible! Hopefully back to crafting soon!

Health update:
I was in my bed for the entire month of August and probably the month of Steptember as well. The soonest movement disorder specialist appointment I can get is for October 7th. It’s just crazy that I can’t get in anywhere until then. I’m still on waiting lists (Chicago, Madison, Milwaukee) and if an appointment opens I can get in sooner. My symptoms continue to be severe and incessant myoclonic jerking. Most of the medication I have tried is not working And sleeping continues to be difficult.

Torrie tested positive for Covid on Friday and I’m so scared to get COVID again. We are both isolating ourselves to our bedrooms.

On a good note I have been approved to do some work from home. I’m extremely lucky to have incredibly understanding colleagues that have faith in me to get things done while being at home. I’m also blessed to have great friends and family that have been helping.

Thank you all for the well wishes. Please keep praying 🙏 that I get moved up the waiting list and most importantly right now that I don’t get Covid or even an exposure that can make my symptoms worse.

Hopefully I can get back to making wreaths, Ragbows, and attachments soon!

Here is my current reality for my fello crafting friends. Who are wondering why I haven’t been creating much:

In November of 2020 I had Covid for the first time. Starting in January(2021) I began to have Hypnic jerking every night. At this time it was more of a nuisance with getting quality sleep. This continued with more significant nighttime jerking until January of 2022 when I had Covid a second time. Then the jerking started happening more at night and during the day 1-2 times per week.
In March of 2022 I was admitted into the hospital with severe jerking (arms, legs, torso, and struggled to walk) that would not stop. I was given lots of tests over the 3 day hospital stay (MRI NECK AND BACK) ruling out a stroke or Parkinson’s and MS. They gave me zero medication in the hospital to stop the jerking. I went home on day 3 with orders to follow up with my neurologist and a small prescription for Ropinirole.

I was also ordered a sleep study where they diagnosed me with Myoclonus, along with Period Limb Movement Disorder and restless Legs (I move my body at least 1x per minute all night while sleeping).

I waited over a month to get into a neurologist. He then prescribed me several different medications over the following months that did not work (Divalproex,
Carb/levo, Ropinirole, Depakote). Finally last month he prescribed Clonazepam .5mg 2x a day. I also completed 3 more MRIS AND AN AMBULATORY EEG (all normal)
The Clonazepam began to work comparatively to the others, meaning less jerking at night but not totally taking it away.

On a side note my husband tested positive for Covid over the weekend. I tested negative (makes me wonder if the exposure triggered the following episode)

Tuesday evening around 5:30 my whole body started jerking and continued throughout the night until I was able to get my son to take me to the ER around 9:30am. At that time they were able to give me 1mg Clonazepam and the jerking has stopped for the most part. Today my legs feel very weak and still twitching a bit. I’m holding out hope for my appointment at The UW Madison movement disorder clinic in October. I’m starting to believe I have long Covid as many are reporting neurological problems. This would make sense after my brain tumor removal 6 years ago.

Thought, prayers and lots of strength are appreciated as this is impacting all areas of my life ❤️

Welcome to Joyfrill Designs!

We are thrilled you found us! We specialize in stunning handmade wreaths. If you’re in need of a holiday, occasional or everyday wreath for your front door, porch, fireplace mantle, room decoration or a gift; we have a wreath for you!

I come from a long line of uniquely talented women. My mother Lisa "Joy" ( She named me Sarah "Joy" and I named my daughter Gracie "Joy") was one of those people who could make something out of nothing. My aunt Paula has the most amazing sense of designing unique and out of the box items, clothing, props. You name it Paula can do it! My grandmother made extraordinarily unique afghans. My sister Letha is a photographer with a focus on barn/farm photography. My cousin Tracy is a photographer with a focus on newborn photography. I have dabbled in a variety of crafts throughout the years and have focused my time over the last several years using my cutting machine and creating “JOYFRILL” wreaths.
