Flagstone/sandstone after 10 years, a few of which were saltwater pool years with no sealer applied. This pool is approximately 10 years old. It was a salt pool, but hasn't been for 5 years. Notice the mortar is higher than the eroded stone. No one told the homeowners to seal the stone.
Whether I seal, or you or someone else, it isn’t snake oil. Gotta seal it.

Wrapped up calcium removal and seal on this one. Mastic to be replaced early next wk.

Don’t see much chocolate lueders being used much these days. Lueders in general is considered to be a softer stone by many.
Staying on a good sealing regiment, can certainly provide long lasting protection.
The lueders here looked untouched having been sealed during build, and subsequently redone annually.
I like the combination between the chocolate lueders w/ the paver choice here.

New construction stone cleaning and seal.
Buffed leuders is cleaned first, including any mortar mess or other imperfections removed, dried out than sealed.
Done at this stage of the pool build specifically to be able to seal flat edge on deck side. Looks great, and the homeowner will be swimming soon.

All wrapped up. Turned back the clock on all the calcium mess. Homeowner happy, so on to the next project..

Today’s project ran a bit long. Will need to return in the morning for a bit more prep, but it’s already looking way better.
Notice the intentions in a few stones at water feature. A sprinkler from adjacent golf course was hitting the unsealed flagstone eroding it.

Today’s project was pretty straightforward.Thick calcium deposits removed, cleaned/sealed flagstone at beam and spa.
