Meehan's Miniatures

Meehan's Miniatures Bonsai from beginning to end we grow and propagate most of our own material, both in ground as well as in containers. Thanks!

Check out our Instagram as well . We are a small family owned nursery which specializes in Bonsai stock, Bonsai and accent plant materials. When we started out we grew Gesneriads, dwarf Begonia's for Terrariums, and Bonsai was a hobby. Now we are again growing some Gesneriads, and dwarf Begonia's and terrariums are again in. Cycles never change they just keep going round.

Coming out of the cold frames = go time 🌱

These outdoor bonsai have been protected through winter and are now entering active growth.
This transition period is where strength builds — roots wake up, buds push, and structure starts to refine.

BRT BABIES!

These Brazilian Rain Tree cuttings were stuck on February 26 and came out of propagation today after rooting nicely.

Successful propagation usually comes down to a few key fundamentals:

• Starting with healthy, well-hydrated stock plants
• Taking clean, properly prepared cuttings
• Using an appropriate propagation medium
• Providing stable environmental conditions for rooting

When those pieces line up, plants tend to respond well.

Propagation is always a mix of patience, observation, and giving plants the conditions they prefer.

Mike and martha were working on a few tree’s to get a jump on spring training, and potting. So lace up those boots and get to work. Those trees won’t train themselves. We do enjoy creating bonsai here @ Meehan’s.

Before ➡️ After | 22 Year Brazilian Rain Tree 🌳

This Brazilian Rain Tree has been in John’s collection for 22 years, with Martha shaping and refining it for the past 15.

Today’s work focused on opening the canopy, improving branch structure, and wiring to guide future growth.

In bonsai, the goal isn’t drastic change — it’s thoughtful refinement over time.

We’re thankful to John for continuing to trust Martha’s style and artistry with this tree. That trust is what allows long-term design to truly develop.
