Landscape fabric is killing your garden's soil.

And it doesn't even stop w**ds.

What landscape fabric actually does:
→ Blocks earthworms from reaching the surface (they CAN'T pe*****te it)
→ Prevents leaf litter from decomposing into soil nutrients
→ Stops beneficial mycorrhizal fungi networks from connecting plant roots
→ Creates a waterproof barrier that causes runoff instead of absorption
→ Soil beneath it becomes compacted, lifeless, and anoxic
→ Weeds grow ON TOP of it in the mulch anyway
→ After 2-3 years, it shreds into plastic strips mixed throughout your soil

The "w**d barrier" myth:
→ Weeds with deep taproots push through it
→ Wind-blown seeds germinate in the mulch on top
→ After 1-2 years, decomposed mulch on top becomes soil → w**ds grow in that
→ You now have w**ds AND dead soil AND plastic debris

WHAT ACTUALLY WORKS:
→ 3-4 inches of mulch (without fabric) — suppresses w**ds AND feeds soil
→ Cardboard or newspaper under mulch (fully biodegradable — breaks down in 6-12 months while suppressing w**ds)
→ Dense ground-cover planting (creeping thyme, native sedums)
→ Hand-pulling the first year while mulch establishes

Healthy soil:
→ Contains 1 billion organisms per tablespoon
→ Feeds your plants through fungal networks
→ Absorbs and filters water
→ Sequesters carbon

Landscape fabric turns all of that off.
