Herbs are so wonderful. They are versatile, grow really well here in AR, and I believe they are a gift from our Creator to heal our bodies when there are deficiencies or sicknesses.
We grow a lot of them in our garden but we are also blessed to have an abundance of wild herbs growing all over our farm! This time of year we enjoy taking walks and harvesting God's provision for the year. We dry them and use them in teas, tinctures, in recipes, as poultices and in skin care products .
Today, we pulled out our infused oils that we started last fall and made some more salve and tallow balm that we offer on our website. You can see how all of the infusions are a different shade due to the different healing properties from each herb being pulled into the oil. These serve as the base for our yearly supply of salves, balms and soaps. We mix and match to create what I believe are the most wonderful, soothing skin care products I've ever used!
Today my girls and I came up with a Sting Stick for insect bites and Poison Plant Stick for irritations from poison ivy using our jewelw**d tallow base mixed with other skin soothing bases. Ticks are bad this year and we feel more prepared now! (These will be available for you on our website along with our other skin care products in the next few days)
