blankblank supports this year's holiday spending blackout.
Our small businesses have been suffering under irresponsible chaos governance for years. Several of our trusted longtime production partners did not survive the first Trump administration, and this year's tariffs have once again, and further, destabilized domestic manufacturing. Most of the amazing design shops and galleries that used to exist when we first started our company have shuttered. Two of the most popular national (but California-based) online lighting retailers that used to represent us consolidated and operated as secret competitors until finally merged and sold to an overseas company. We need to be investing more wisely in our small businesses, every day.
You can make a difference. Stand up FOR small business, FOR responsible policies, FOR choice, FOR your community.
Join us and participate in the blackout November 25th-December 2nd.
Here are some tips:
👉 A general shift in your everyday buying and dining habits toward small businesses will make more of a difference than anything our small businesses will miss in these few days. Always Start Small! (🫏!)
👉 Use this time to think ahead about your foreseeable purchases and how you can support small businesses before and after this event (gift certificates can help and in the State of California, they never expire, by law). Reach out to your fave local artists and artisans NOW for holiday gifts.
👉 Give your fave small businesses a shout out NOW on the socials (and IRL) to remind friends how great it is to shop and dine local/small. Don't forget to review and praise them on Google, Yelp, Trip Advisor, etc.
👉 CC processing fees add around 3% percent to all transactions, every time--this is a big part of the reason for inflated costs in recent years. Save us all $, use cash, checks, or alternative platforms, especially for expensive purchases.
👉 Remember that it can take a couple of days for card transactions to post so plan to curtail purchases around the 23rd.
👉 Always vote and cultivate relationships with your representatives. Don't accept leadership that is out of touch with what builds a better society for everyone.
🤚 Once again, as we did during the pandemic, we ask you not to shop with us! We plan to weather this storm as we have all the others since 2004. Please direct your purchases into your communities this holiday season.
Shop local, small, seasonal & soulful! 😊
