There are three things I love in a bedroom. 1. A mix of textiles. Not everything has to match. 2. Something old (like these antique horse prints) Vintage just makes a room more interesting. 3. Live greenery. The energy of plants make a room feel more inviting and well…alive! Photo:

It’s incredible how much work went into this pretty picture. This living room got a massive makeover (swipe for a progress shot). We centered the fireplace, created a wood door frame, extended a back wall out 10’, and added a massive 16’ sliding door. What was once an awkward space now feels so spacious and balanced. This warm Spring weather always turns my attention to gardens and gardening. I’m feeling inspired by these incredible outdoor dining spaces, whose owners have been blessed with ancient trees. (📸 in order: , , )

So happy to finally share photos of this dreamy bathroom. All that was here before was a grassy knoll with a stunning view. What better location for a pedestal tub? Photo: Architect: Gregory Peitz

A nautical nursery for the newest addition to my client’s family. Their little boy will have the best guard dog because this guy would NOT take his eyes off me. He certainly was not leaving the room so I could take a photo.

The remodeled laundry room in the Butte Valley project. The washer/dryer side was given a nice facelift, including subway tile and Carrara marble countertops. The opposite side of the room was originally a mishmash of closets that we removed and replaced with custom cabinetry. (Thank you !) Swipe to see what the laundry room looked like before.

A glimpse of the dining room and kitchen in the Granite Bay Lake House. Nothing in this remodel is too contrived or flashy, and the end result is a house that feels connected to its history (‘67 baby!) and location (lake life). The dining room had the most beautiful original brick floors, but the kitchen flooring was an atrocious faux marble. We ripped out the tile and replaced it with wood flooring that feels right at home next to the red brick. Before the remodel, the dining room felt claustrophobic and there was a lot of underutilized wall space. We created a pass-through into the living room with a massive 12’ mahogany countertop. This added so much light and much-needed storage. More photos of this project to come!

Progress on our primary bedroom. It had a few challenges including a lack of light and a window that’s narrower than our bed frame. The knee jerk reaction when decorating a dark room is to paint it white, which often ends up looking dingy and sad. I tested about 10 different colors (including pink!) before landing on this blue/green grey called Puritan Grey. To fix the issue of the narrow window, I added curtains to create the illusion that it was wider than our bed. The third challenge is that the bedroom is open to both the bathroom (I can see the toilet from my side of the bed) and a funky hot tub room (!) that is currently being used as an office. We’ll be putting in French doors this winter to remedy that eye sore. Check out my stories for a before picture!
