Spending some more time with my little friends.

When I purchased the little painter years ago I had the idea to photograph him with my flowers in vases in the background and then photograph the flowers alone--add a painterly effect -- then combine the two images.

I'm pleased with how it turned out.

Another image featuring my little people. I'm obsessed with wings and all they represent to me. I can't believe how many props for miniatures I've collected over the years. The shelves in my office/studio are full of them. It's nice to put them to use again.

Back in the days of Google+ (anyone remember Google+?) I used to enter just about every photography contest. In the process I discovered my love of miniature figure photography.

Recently I received two new challenges.

My friend, challenged me to create an image with the theme "Paper". Then another friend who like, AJ, began as a google+ virtual friend and became a real world friend and inspiration, challenged me to dig out my "littles" and be creative .

Today I was adding glitter to my printed greeting card collection and I said to myself, "Hey wait a minute, Let's get out the micro lens and my "little people" and see what happens"

I've been working on a new series of mixed media painterly photographs. While traveling, I often take intentionally blurred photographs along with focused ones with the intention of creating fine art. Don't know why I'm so drawn to these dreamy images, but I am.

I've just added some of my favorite prints from our travels throughout medieval Europe.

Every image in this series holds a story of the time and place that these architectural beauties were created.

And for me personally, the story of the sights and sounds (often awe inspiring cathedrals & ancient church bells ringing) that arise in me as sacred memories.

Added a few more pieces from this series. This was so much fun to shoot. Well for me, anyway. Apparently, I hadn't taken into account how heavy the gowns, shoes and wigs would be when completely wet.

My daughter, Aerika J. Engel and granddaughter, Alex Luther were such good sports. They were on the verge of drowning before they finally told me, "We need to change into shorter, lighter dresses!". I had to (reluctantly) agree :)
