Dear Friends,

As you study the New Testament, a word that continually appears is the word "power."

"For the Kingdom of God does not consist in words, but in power." (1 Corinthians 4:20)

The Christian life is not a natural life. It is a super-natural life! God has chosen to reveal Himself to the world through us by manifesting His power in us.

Satan, on the other hand, would like Christians to live discouraged, defeated and powerless lives. The only way He can do this is to fool us into thinking that there is nothing different about our life than anyone else's.

On the other hand, God wants you, as a believer, to realize that because the Holy Spirit lives in your life you have all the power of God available to you. That is why there is a constant battle going on inside of you so that this power will not be released.

This verse is a reminder again that the Christian life isn't words but it is the power of God. He demonstrated that in the creation of the Universe through Christ and His resurrection and now He demonstrates it through the presence of the Holy Spirit in our lives. He wants you to tap into this power every day to live a victorious, super-natural life. Don't let this reality pass you by.

Who’s power are you living by today? Why not let God give you the power you need to live the supernatural life!

Here's for having a great "power filled" day!

Dear Friends,

The ski trails on the mountains have ropes which designate the boundary markers. Staying within the boundaries give a safe, fun and freeing time on the slopes. There are warning signs on these ropes which caution what can happen if someone ignores them and ski's beyond them: "There is no ski patrol or protection for those who venture out beyond the boundary markers. Your safety and life are in danger."

Despite this, many people have ignored these warnings and ski outside of them. Every year, someone needs to be rescued at great expense and some have even lost their lives: all for a "fun time."

God has given us boundary markers for our lives that provide a secure, free and enjoyable lifestyle. They are all in God's Word. Proverbs 6:22-23 says:

"Wherever you walk, their counsel can lead you. When you sleep, they will protect you. When you wake up in the morning, they will advise you.

For these commands and this teaching are a lamp to light the way ahead of you. The correction of discipline is the way to life."

So often we feel that freedom is doing whatever we want when we want to. However, true freedom is found in the security of following the commands of God. God's protection is so that we can enjoy His promises. He wants to protect us so He can provide for us!

We have the freedom to ignore the boundary markers. God won't stop us. However, He longs to show us how incredibly secure, free, and blessed life can be when we follow His path.

"Mark out a straight path for your feet; then stick to the path and stay safe." (Proverbs 4:26 NLT)

Dear Friend,

How often do you struggle with anxiety and worry? Do you find yourself consumed with concern and fear? Did you know that you don’t have to live this way?

I Peter 5:7 says, “Cast all your anxiety on Him, because He cares for you.”

Because God cares deeply for you, He doesn’t want your life dominated by fear and worry. That is not the way He intended for you to live.

Instead, He wants you to give Him everything you are worried about. He even commands us to cast it on Him instead of taking on ourselves. This means that if something is of concern to you, no matter how big or small, then it concerns Him!

The word for “cast” in the Greek is the word “to throw” just as a person would throw a stone. As soon as you start feeling anxious, God wants you to take all those worries, cares, and concerns and toss them onto Him immediately. Why does He want to do this? Because He cares for you and He can handle them! We were not designed to handle all the stress that we do!

How are you doing in this process? Are you still hanging onto all your problems, or have you learned the secret of letting Jesus Christ have every worry and concern you could possibly have. He is great enough to handle yours and more!

Why not let Him carry everything that is bothering you today!

Here’s for having a great week!

Dear Friends,

One of the promises we have from God is that He has a plan and a purpose for each of our lives. When we trust Him, He will make sure that we do not miss out on this plan. He wants you and me to live confidently knowing that He is in control.

God does not want you to be living a life of doubt, fear, insecurity or apprehension. He wants you to have the same assuredness David had when he wrote:

"The LORD will work out His plans for my life; for Your faithful love, O LORD, endures forever..." (Psalm 138:8) (NLT)

Notice that David's assurance was not based on himself and his faithfulness, but the Lord's. Also notice that David did not say "The Lord will work out my plans for my life." He knew that God's plans were always better than his own.

God doesn't promise to do everything we want Him to do. What you may want may not be the best for you. Our plans are not perfect and are always tainted with "self." God will for our lives are always perfect (fully complete).

Fortunately, God will protect His children by not giving them everything they want. (No good parent would do that for their child).

We may not always agree with how God handles us or what His plans are, but thankfully, we soon discover that His ways are always the best.

Are you struggling today with what your plans are for your life? Why not surrender the control of your life over to God and let Him work out for you what is by far the best plan for your life: His plan!

Aren't you glad that you can rest in God's unending faithfulness and love today?

May this be a wonderful week for you!

Dear Friends,

How do you view yourself? Did you know that how we view ourselves effects how we view God? Often times we choose to view ourselves differently than God views us.

King David had the right perspective of who he was which helped him have the right perspective of God. He said in Psalm 139:14:

"I will give thanks to You, for I am fearfully and wonderfully made. Wonderful are Your works, and my soul knows it very well." (NAS)

I looked up every word in the Hebrew and discovered it is even richer. Here is how I would translate this passage based on the descriptive Hebrew words David uses.

I will continually give praise and thanks to You because You gave attention to every detail of how I was made! You made no mistakes in making me. I am made in such a way that I am unique and distinguished from anyone else and this makes me wonderful. I am wonderful to You and a wonderful (amazing, fantastic and magnificent) creation. You have placed this in my heart and I know it is real.

Have you ever drawn or made something which you were proud to show to others? This is how God is with is. He proudly displays us to angels and all of creation and says "See how I made this person (meaning you) unique and wonderful!"

If you don't like yourself, it is difficult to like God.

If you think God made a mistake or did not care in how He made you, then it is hard to trust Him.

When we realize that “God does not make junk,” then we see Him as He truly is: An awesome and wonderful God who made you and me an awesome and wonderful person!

Here's for a week seeing as God sees.

Dear Friends,

There is much happening in the world around us. With political elections, terrorist threats, and questions about the stability of the future, there is something God wants us to realize as His children. The moment we place our faith in Jesus Christ, we receive a Kingdom which cannot be shaken.

“Therefore, since we receive a kingdom which cannot be shaken, let us be thankful, and so worship God acceptably with reverence and awe.” (Hebrews 12:28)

Our country and the kingdoms of other countries are constantly being shaken. However, the Kingdom you and I have can and never will be shaken! This is why it says we can live thankfully. Let us worship God with “reverence and awe,” meaning acknowledging that He is in control and is in charge of our lives.

Ultimately, no matter who is president of our country or what kind of attacks we face, it does not change our situation as believers in Christ. Jesus knew our foundations would be tested.

"Everyone who comes to Me and hears My words and acts on them, I will show you whom he is like: he is like a man building a house, who dug deep and laid a foundation on the Rock; and when a flood occurred, the torrent burst against that house and could not shake it, because it had been well built.” (Luke 6:47-48)

What is the foundation of your life today? If it is the Lord, then you can live confidently, gratefully, and securely. He is the calm in the midst of a storm. Of all people, we are the most fortunate! Just remember, God is more concerned about who is King of your life than who is king of your country!

Dear Friends,

My son Mark had me read a chapter out of a book written by Linus Torvalds, the man who invented Linux (a computer operating system). Torvalds got his start by solving complicated math problems. His success was due in part to his perspective. "It was only a problem because you were looking at it the wrong way. Once you view a problem the right way, it is no longer a problem." This is exactly how God wants us to view our problems in life. Once we see it "His way," we are seeing it the right way. From God's perspective, none of our problems are problems. Every problem we encounter has a purpose. They are opportunities for our character to grow and our faith to increase. Once we realize this, the issue is no longer a problem but a blessing! God is not up in heaven mystified as to what solution there is for your situation. He has the answer. Our job is to simply trust Him and to have His perspective! The Apostle Paul understood this. That is why he could say:

"Give thanks in all circumstances, for this is God's will for you in Christ Jesus." (1 Thessalonians 5:18 NIV) May I invite you to pray with me? "Thank You, Lord, that You have the solution to every problem I am facing and that You are working it all out for my good. Help me to see my life and circumstances from Your perspective. Help me to trust You in all things and have an attitude of thankfulness, and not bitterness."

Here's for a week with a new perspective!

Dear Friends,

Did you know that there is no mistake or sin you could commit that God cannot make right?

We will all mess up sometimes by making a bad choice or letting our selfish ambitions cloud the holiness that God intends for us to live by. And although we can never take back our mistakes, God is still able to restore us no matter how far we have strayed.

"The LORD is good and does what is right; He shows the proper path to those who go astray." (Psalm 25:8 NLT)

God, who is good and wants what is right, will show us the right thing to do and which way to go. He always has a right decision for every wrong one we make.

God wants to free us. We don't have to be stuck in the embarrassment of our mistakes or sin. There is nothing we can do about the past, but there is something we can do about the future: We can choose to follow God's leading and make the right choice now even though we've made a wrong one.

Here is what I do when I have made a wrong decision:

• Confess to God that I made a wrong decision.

• Thank Him that I am forgiven and that He is greater than my sin.

• Ask Him to show me what to do to make it right.

• Ask Him for the power to obey Him.

No matter where you are in life, God has the "proper path" to lead you into a life of joy and abundance! Why not stop beating yourself up for the past and let God help you make the right decisions today?

Dear Friends,

After Christ told his disciples He was going to be leaving them, they became very worried and concerned of how they would be able to continue. Christ told them in John 14:16:

"And I will ask the Father, and He will give you another Helper, that He may be with you forever."

Christ knew that the disciples were not going to be able to follow Him, obey Him, and survive the difficulties of being a Christian in a non-Christian world. He knew they would need help. That is one of the reasons why He sent the Holy Spirit to them and to us. We need help! We need help to make it through every day serving God, raising families, having a good marriage, being faithful to God, doing good at work, making it through the trials and tribulations of every day, and simply having a good attitude.

Who or what are you relying on for help today? There is a reason that the Holy Spirit is called "The Helper". He's there for you, you just simply need to ask Him for help.

Here's for having a great week knowing you have help!
