Does your home use propane?

Most gas appliances are manufactured for natural gas unless propane is specified at the time of purchase. The good news is that conversion kits are available for many dryers, cooktops, ovens, and other gas appliances.

Here's a propane conversion I completed today on a new construction project in Alpine. Proper conversion ensures your appliances operate safely and efficiently with your home's fuel source.

On older boats, especially ones that have been modified repeatedly over decades, it's common to find critical components buried behind cabinetry, tanks, bulkheads, or other additions that weren't there when the boat was built. A system from 1972 that's effectively inaccessible can force you into repair-and-maintain mode rather than replacement mode.

Whether a temporary fix is reasonable depends on what system you're talking about. For something cosmetic or non-critical, making it work with available materials can be perfectly sensible. For systems that affect safety—fuel, electrical, steering, through-hulls, structural components, gas lines, etc.—a "pinch" repair may be necessary to get by, but it's worth understanding the risks and monitoring it closely until a more permanent solution becomes possible.

Diagnosed a failed ECM blower motor on a 21-year-old York Affinity system. The motor is exhibiting cogging behavior and is unable to consistently deliver the airflow required for proper system operation. The system is repairable, and replacement of the blower motor would restore operation.

I discussed with the homeowners that, while this specific repair can be made, the system is 21 years old and all major components are of similar age. Due to the age and overall condition of the equipment, there is an increased likelihood of additional component failures in the future. My goal is to provide complete transparency so they can make an informed decision regarding whether to proceed with the repair or begin considering equipment replacement. At this time, repair and replacement options have been presented, and the homeowners will decide which path best fits their needs and budget.

ATK Appliance and HVAC Repair has officially been in business for one year!

I want to thank all of my family, friends, and customers for your support over the past year and for helping me take the huge leap of starting my own business. Your encouragement and trust have allowed me to build my dream instead of someone else's, and I couldn't be more grateful.

To kick off the summer, here's a mini-split installation I completed today. It's been an incredible first year filled with hard work, growth, and opportunities, and I'm excited to see what the next year brings.
