✨ It’s my birthday today. 3-5! I was born on Friday the 13th, but this year it’s on a Saturday (phew!).
Birthdays are always emotional for me because part of me is like “eh, nobody cares” and the other part of me is just in genuine disbelief that I managed to survive one more year on this earth.
But today, I’m feeling overwhelmed with nostalgia and gratitude. I was cleaning and came across this faded backstage pass from a concert I played 19 years ago with !!! 🎶
🎻 I began playing the violin at age 6 and played in the . Thanks to an incredible visionary conductor , we got to study Classic Rock music by performing with actual rockstars like Pat Benatar.
🎤 Pat Benatar is a BOSS. Not only does she have an insanely beautiful voice but she made it big as a rockstar in the 70s-80s when rock n roll was dominated by men. She’s been nominated for and won a ton of GRAMMY’s, had many platinum and multi-platinum albums, a bunch of Billboard top hits, and was recently inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame with her husband/guitarist Neil Giraldo (if you’re not familiar with the Rock Hall, trust me when I say it’s a BIG deal!!!). She’s an inspiration in soo many ways and an amazing example of what’s possible when we pursue our passion, lead with our heart, and put in a LOT of consistent hard work.
19 years later, I still can’t believe that teenage me stumbled my way into playing a concert with her. I’m beyond grateful for that experience and excited to see what 35 year old Lesley stumbles her way into.
⚡️34 was a year filled with a LOT of personal growth and learning, mixed with generous doses of optimistic frustration. I’m feeling very grateful that I get to live in a city/region I love so dearly, met so many wonderful people, and that I get to work with rockstar clients who are some of the coolest/smartest/kindest people I’ve ever met. Thank you to everyone who I’ve been lucky enough to cross paths with over the past year. I can’t wait to see what 35 has in store 🖤
