Gisela Schmoll, principal of GSA, is a California licensed architect with extensive experience in residential remodels and additions. Additionally, she has worked on commercial spaces and art galleries. Prior to becoming an architect, she practiced as an industrial designer, creating such notable products as the original PalmPilot. With this experience, Gisela is able to produce the "total work of

art", from the overall building design down to the minutest detail. She has won numerous awards both for her architecture and product design. Gisela has a degree in Industrial Design from Art Center College of Design and received a Master of Architecture degree from the University of California at Berkeley.

As of May 1, 2025, homeowners who add an ADU under the state program may now be eligible to sell the ADU separately as a condo. Of course—it’s San Francisco—so there are plenty of fine-print restrictions to navigate.

This two-unit San Francisco home is a great example of how an ADU can add both value and livability. What was once a maze of cramped rooms has been transformed into a cohesive, light-filled space.
