Veridian Deserts is OBSESSED with conserving our natural resources-it is this passion that inspires our floral artists to create centerpieces and arrangements that honor our mission of sustainability. Our designs incorporate awesome succulents, drought tolerant plants and California natives. Being floral artists-naturally we can also make boutonnieres(almost broke a sweat spelling that!), corsages

, bouquets and beautifully arranged container gardens. But our green loving nature does not stop there-we attempt to use a majority of recycled/reused materials and in doing so reduce the amount of waste diverted to landfills. (sorry couldn't help it, love quoting not so popular tv-aka info-mercials). We also source locally and incorporate green practices every step of the way.

Sometimes as humans we struggle, there are big picture struggles and little ones too. Then sometimes things click and sometimes they don't. But if we get the chance to try again, another chance to be on earth, why not? If we throw our hands up and slump down, we know for sure no change will happen but if we keep going and softly ask, collaborate and give of ourselves we may get the desired outcome. This happened with the propagation of my , I feel they have a little more wild in them and they resisted domestication by me. Some years I have decent yields and some not so great, but I kept asking, collaborating and giving of myself and guess what?!!!! This year it is bounty galore. When we are intentional about how we move and what we do, the universe listens and if we're lucky, we get a hand.

Nature goes with the flow and grows despite the lack of it. As much as we pound on her and stiffle her creatures, she finds a way through. Her "weeds" grow through our human made cracks. Her compassion is admirable and her grace is incomparable.

As a people we can do the same, we will grow despite caging systems. We will bloom even in inhospitable environments, we will reach and we will strive until those who oppress us realize they cannot stomp on our growth. We will rise.

The silence of growing is mesmerizing. Sometimes as I tease the web of roots that I neglected for too long, I think of all that it took for these little plants to get to their current state. The time invested. The love poured. In their foliage, they hold and reflect the life of me that I have given them and the miracle of creation that I had no part in. For these particular Mexican Mint Marigolds, I also think about the four little hands that helped their journey. How in sharing in the creation of these new plants, I shared a part of me that I hope they will hold in them. A memory that I will treasure as long as my mortal brain allows.
