At SFD we have a response matrix designed for specific calls. In this video we are responding to a commercial fire alarm at the public school. The initial response brings the shift commander, ladder truck and 2 engines. If no hazards are identified, it is common practice to return apparatus that is not directly involved in resolving the issue. Those crews that have cleared the scene are immediately available to respond to another incident.

In this video I demonstrate how to strip and start cedar siding. When starting your first course of cedar it’s important to double it up. You can use a full shingle or rip off your course height (in this case 5”). I prefer to use a full shingle and install with only 1 nail since the other course will be nailing through it again. I also install my cedar wet and tight knowing they will shrink and gap. Hope that helps 🔨
