Well, we're still definitely more inclined towards the out-of-doors chores - Facebook is one of our last stops in our weekly routine this busy season...
Anyway, we're still here! We're planting plants as if the rain were on it's merry way. We're checking on old projects, touching base with a few new prospects, and driving silver trucks around town filled to the gills with garden related nonsense.
Happy Monday, gang!

Nothing quite like climbing to the top of a ridge in the middle of summer... We love seeing the summer thrivers in their full glory out there. CA buckwheat towards the end of her bloom turning that stunning rust color, surrounding the Yucci - what a beautiful combo, eh!?
Happy Monday!

Paige and Zorro went Calochortus hunting this weekend. Found some cuties out in Toro Canyon park.
Don't worry, we went at 6:30P to avoid heat stroke.

Guys! It's been REAL hot.
So that your plants don't end up looking like this cat, here's a couple rules we've been living by:
1) Water as early as you can - 5:30AM is probably best, but since I'm sure you're not all up at that hour, as early as possible will work. Don't go nuts with jacking up your watering times either - a slight increase will help, but no need to drown anybody.
2) When plants are wilted at the peak of the day, don't assume it's because they're dry - check the soil, stay involved with it's moisture level throughout the summer. IF it's dry, water a bit if you must, but try to wait until it cools down again. You'll be surprised by how tough plants are - they'll probably be right as rain in the morning without you watering in the middle of the day.
3) MULCH. You knew we would say that, though. Cover up bare soil, keep it moister for longer. Same rule goes for your skin - long sleeves, sun screen and hats are a must!

Happy summer survival, y'all

Did a drive by on one of our first 100% CA native installs yesterday and were happy to see the Matilija's thriving as we drove around the corner! We dug holes with a jack hammer for this install...😐 Apparently we picked the right plants!

Generally, we're really, really bad at taking selfies... We got lucky and got this good one out of at least a dozen up in Carrizo.

Got a little rain this weekend, a little sleep, lots of coffee and food. We're gearing up to lay down some mulch this morning... There is truly nothing like the stench of County Mulch on a Monday morning.
Happy Monday, land lovers

Well, I think we're blogging now... It should be interesting! The first one is up. We plan on sharing our garden insight, tricks and tips of the trade... Hopefully it'll serve as a kind of guide for some folks.
We'd love to hear from you once we've got something worth talking about!

I called my mom in Maui a couple weeks back to catch up. We always end up talking shop, and she told me about how she'd begun a blog. She told me, "I don't like the word 'BLOG'... it just sounds so...
