Last year, we had the opportunity to bring in some really cool genetics from lines I've long admired: Winning Streak EB Angry Bird. He has given us a lot of stunningly beautiful kids but also packs an impressive pedigree. So, naturally, I've been watching his Dam closely. When she was offered for sale this spring, it was my hope she would land with someone as excited about her as I am, and willing/able to prove her out.

Stars Alight Acres bringing her home and just in time for appraisals and sliding her right into her DHIR milk testing program is exactly what I had hoped for! So HUGE congratulations, Kristen, and YAY ME! I can't wait to see what she does this year and the impact she has on your herd.

We spent the weekend at the Mid State Dairy Goat Show. We had a great time, and it was so good to catch up with all our goat friends! We only brought a couple dry yearlings and bucks, and we didn't bring home any ribbons, but we came home with something even better! As several of you have already guessed, the new addition that we hinted at previously is none other than 🥁🥁🥁
✨Winning Streak RM Dixi Delight! ✨
We are delighted to have her here, and since we already have representations from both the Winning Streak and Better Wayz sides of her pedigree here, we think she will fit right in! Timing also couldn't be better, because although she was part of Winning Streak's show string and even earned a champion leg, she has not yet been appraised. We are scheduled for a linear appraisal stop later this month, so we are thrilled that she arrived in time to be able to join. We are beyond excited to have her here, and truly look forward to seeing what she can do for the herd!

Now to finish unpacking from the show, and maybe get to bed early tonight!

I knew when Kristen first commented on this breeding that I wanted to send this little doe to her herd where she will get the opportunities to shine and prove how amazing she is!!

It was actually hard letting her go this weekend as her personality is just as amazing as her pedigree 😍 Even though she was dam raised, she was the first of the littles to greet me every time I went out to the herd!

We actually came back from the Mid State Dairy Goat Show with TWO more goats than we left with! But hey, my only kid reservation this year fell through, so when Natalie at Red Rooster Ranch offered me a deal I couldn't refuse on a doeling I'd been eyeing anyway, I was in no position to say no 😂

Introducing 🌿Red Rooster AB Katniss🌿

Katniss is a pretty little doe with a really neat pedigree. She is actually a granddaughter of our other new addition, Dixi.

Katniss's dam Sunflower is very promising first freshener. We love her well-attached, wide rear udder that is showing great capacity even just a few weeks into her lactation. Sunflower's dam is Wolfivan WR Sassifras. Sassafras is a Joyful Hearts KR Phoebe daughter, making her a half sister to 2024 ADGA National Champion Wolfivan CQ Ginger Root. Sunflower's sire is Winning Streak EB Star Struck. We have a great admiration for Winning Streak, and already have several of their animals in the herd. Star Struck is a really neat buck. His dam is GCH Winning Streak CM Starla, one of the famous "92 crew." Starla is also full sister to one of our very favorite Winning Streak does, GCH Winning Streak CM Angelina. Star Struck is littermate brother to Winning Streak EB Lucky Star, an absolutely gorgeous young doe with a stunning udder who finished her championship at a recent show where she won Grand Champion, Best Udder of Breed, AND Best in Show in BOTH rings! Star Struck's sire is Phoenix Farm Exotic Bird, who has proven the quality and consistency of his progeny time after time with many finished champion daughters.

Katniss's sire brings more Winning Streak to the table. Her sire Angry Bird is also sired by Exotic Bird, making Katniss a linebreeding on Exotic Bird. Angry Bird's dam is our other new addition, ELITE Winning Streak RM Dixi Delight. Dixi is one of the few daughters of Winning Streak CM Elegance EEEE 92, who was sadly lost in her prime a couple of years ago. Dixi's sire Better Wayz EJ Rocket Man is a son of the legendary SG Old Mountain Farm Elton Jay ++*B, who has been used heavily in the Better Wayz herd and sired some of their best animals. Elton Jay's progeny include SG SwissMiss Carabear EEEE 92 (multiple time Top 10 doe) SG HarmonyCarabear EEEE 92 (another multiple time Top 10 doe,) Cuddles VEEE 90 (another Top 10,) Autumn Pumpkin VEVV 88 (yep, Top 10) and Aphrodite VEVE 91 (Top 10 AGAIN!) Elton Jay is also sire to Better Wayz Ella EEEE 91, the dam of our young buck Better Wayz Eros.

We could go on, but there are so many beautiful animals in this pedigree and fun tie-ins and throwbacks, it would take all day. Katniss herself is only a few weeks old, but is already showing herself to be a very correct little doe with a beautiful front end assembly. It also doesn't hurt that she is an absolute cuddle bug!

Goat friends! We are fundraising for our daughter's missions trip this summer and I'm offering my goat classes at a reduced price, $80 each or $150 for both, and all of the money raised will go to her trip!

Each class is 10 one-hour recordings of me teaching about how we have raised our goats for over 15 years! (No coupon needed, the prices have already been discounted from $100 each.)

She will travel to Guatemala where she will work with women who have escaped human trafficking and are now looking for a better life. She will be teaching them life and work skills to find restoration, healing, and independence. The end goal is to provide the women an opportunity to support themselves and their children.

Red light therapy is my new favorite thing for myself, so why not for the goats! I’m using it here kn Sassy’s congested udder (some hard spots that are clogged milk ducts).

But I’ve used it on swollen back ends on the newly fresh mamas too. It’s anti inflammatory and increasing blood flow - both to speed healing and relive pain.
