Think eating pie is an unhealthy indulgence? Think again! Support your active body and mind by enjoying a slice of Carob Mint Pie with Coconut Crust that features some unlikely ingredients like... spinach. The plant-based form of vitamin K in spinach is associated with higher cognitive functioning as we age. Learn more about youth-preserving foods to include in your diet from Dr. Michael Greger on Saturday, February 3 at the Rio Theatre. Your future self will thank you for it! Looking for neighbors in the Encina Drive, Halterman Avenue, Byer Rd., Byer Ct., Willa Way, Antonelli Ct., Reinelt Ave., and Woolport Way area that might be interested in collaborating to grow fruit trees on each other's property. With so much unused sunny lots in this area, we could help each other plant a tree in the front or backyards. Keeping it simple and starting small, many of us could have apples, oranges, lemons, limes, avocados, cherries, peaches, mulberries, etc., that eventually we could share with each other or not. Having some organic fruit available without going to the grocery store is a plus: food security and fresh picked when ripe makes for excellent flavor. It also reduces our food budget! Does anyone want to join the discussion and creation of something that sequesters carbon and creates delicious food for our families? Please let me know. Thanks, Golden Love, 1955 Encina Drive, Santa Cruz. Here is a picture of our front yard, it will be fun removing all the asphalt to plants some fruit trees!😀

Hello friends! This is the fourth live video in the series of tours of parts of our home. We are doing these videos with the intention of connecting with like-minded people who might be interested in joining our community.

Today we are touring the dining room. This room has been the site of many potlucks, dinner parties, overflow space for food prep classes, and regular meals for our home community. Please help us connect with our ideal community by commenting and sharing.

And if you have a particular friend in mind who would want to live in a cool vegan community committed to peace, justice, love, and environmental sustainability, please share this post and our ads:

Love’s Gardens is looking for additional partners to collaborate on projects in the Santa Cruz County area.

We design, build, and maintain food forests, water re-use systems such as grey water and rainwater, climate restoration gardens, native plant gardens, and more. We collaborate with new or established companies in our work.

We currently need partners with skills and experience in the following areas:
1. Technical design work using computer applications. Creating rain and grey water designs. One example would be using rainwater for flushing toilets and doing laundry.
2. Mechanical abilities to install, maintain, and service rain and grey water systems. We can provide equipment manuals for many of our systems, and can also offer mentorship in this area.
3. Training in horticulture, native and edible plants, construction, and plant care.
4. Experience and training in the pruning and care of fruit trees and other edibles.
5. Permaculture principles and their applications in urban areas. Focus here is to reduce inputs and create ecological systems that support climate restoration and food security.

We require our partners to have a business license. A contractor’s license is preferred, but not mandatory. We enter into a formal contractual relationship with all partners.

In order to maintain our excellent reputation and high standards of operation, all partners are expected to operate in alignment with Love’s Gardens principles, as communicated in the contract. Examples include our ironclad commitment to environmentally-sustainable practices, our consistent practice of treating customers and partners with respect, and our value of using simple, low-cost solutions to the greatest extent possible.

Please contact us if this is of interest to you!
