SD Atelier Architecture has received numerous awards from the Saratoga Springs Preservation Foundation and has been featured in several publications including Builder/Architect, HOME magazine and House Beautiful. It was sad for us to hear about the passing of Margot Ernst. She was a passionate advocate for the Adirondacks and a wonderful person. We had the pleasure of working with Margot and John Ernst on the renovation of the Elk Lake Lodge.

She was a pleasure to work with, had a keen understanding of design and helped to create the vision to make Elk Lake Lodge sustainable for the next generation. We are always reminded of how fragile life is when we hear of another loss.
We offer our sincere condolences to John and her family.😞

I just found out Bob Sipperly, contractor we have known for over 35 years passed away in November.
Although we were not in touch often, I had the utmost respect for him and found him kind, honest and fun to work with and a great craftsman as well.
It is a reminder life is fragile and one never knows when things will change.
every day is a gift.
Be kind and spread peace.

The American Institute of Architects (AIA) has strongly opposed this change, emphasizing that the title of architect is earned through years of rigorous education, experience, and demanding licensure processes, all of which are critical for protecting public health, safety, and welfare. The organization warned that the reduced borrowing limits could create financial barriers, limit diversity within the profession, and potentially lead to fewer individuals pursuing architectural studies. The AIA has stated it will lobby policymakers to ensure architecture's professional standing is properly recognized in federal policy.

Utilizing aggressive storm water management concepts; local timber framer and framing craftsmen; minimal maintenance materials and building science principles – these structures will coexist and blend into the local landscape and waterfront vernacular with a charm which is satisfying to the client’s needs.

We are excited to announce SD Atelier Architecture was awarded Best Historic Remodel at the CRBRA Awards ceremony!!
The award recognized the Italianate historic home that underwent a complete renovation, addition and new carriage house to bring back the historic integrity and beauty.
The site and landscaping underwent major improvements by Redbud Development.
