Restaurant refresh using Duration in Blue China, Bar Brown & Anjou Pear (SW-6381). Great group and we were happy to come in and refresh the restaurant for them during their annual maintenance week at the beginning of the new year. Definitely get a reservation ahead of time for this fantastic French restaurant! Cheers!

They say never apply stain in direct sunlight but sometimes there’s no way around it and you just got to stay focused and keep the brush moving and the stain stirred. Sanded the stairs with 80 grit & 120, made sure everything was prepped and covered to prevent any splashes or drips on the white risers as well as the marble & oyster tabby surfaces below. We stained the stairs using Australian Timber Oil in Jarrah Brown. Easy day at the office if you hustle and manage things right and we did. Also, not a bad view with the golf course as a background.

Happy Easter to all of those who celebrate the holiday & are tired of eating fish on Fridays! These are pics of the interior of the Cathedral Basilica St. John the Baptist Catholic in Savannah, GA, USA. Notice the carvings of Christ’s journey to the crucifixion. The pic of yours truly has the Papal Coat of Arms in the background which is significant because the Pope consecrated this Cathedral by decree which made it a Basilica. If you ever find yourself in Savannah by all means, make this a stop on your journey. Light a candle, pull out a kneeler and say a prayer or just sit and meditate on the beauty of this building and the craftsmanship it took to create it! Cheers!

After pics of Charleston Piazza project. Process: sand, fill & primed w/ Richard’s primer tinted gray, finished w/ 2 coats of Deck Guard in Porch Red. Rear stair treads replaced-before installation each board was sanded, primed & painted on all 6 sides of each board for protection of the wood & to insure longevity of the paint job. Cheers!

Before pics of the piazza that needed some TLC. Obviously, as with any project you need to address any issues (boards that need replaced, rot, repair) and manage expectations especially in dealing with weather and historic homes. Also, you should take note of where water entry points are as well as the high traffic areas which will need a little more attention. Remember prep is 80% of painting & the foundation for the longevity of your paint job. If you do it right you will save your team: customers & painters both time & money! Cheers!

Just a reminder from your friendly neighborhood painters: when you see “Caution” or “Wet Paint” signs please do yourself and the painters a favor and think of that area as a “restricted zone” that you shouldn’t enter. This week in 1968, the movie “Bullitt” was released starring Steve McQueen, his ‘68 Ford Mustang GT Fastback & a 7 minute car chase with at least 12 hubcaps launched into the San Francisco hills. The dark green Mustang “Bullitt edition”pictured here is an homage to McQueen’s whip! The piazza in the background is painted with Deck Guard in Porch Red (C16-3118). In case you missed us! We are back baby! Not that we went anywhere but it’s time to sling some paint, get the roller rolling again, hang some paper & post about it like civilized painters do! Now, before everyone goes crazy because the *prodigal painters have returned-check out what has for Color of the Year for 2024-Blue Nova 825!!!! Who wants to be the first to have it on their walls, doors, furniture or built-in shelving? Cheers! *We do know that “prodigal painters” would mean “extravagantly wasteful” but it had been so long since we’d posted that it was Biblical hence the turn of phrase.
