Founded in 1993, Habitat for Humanity of Schenectady County, Inc. is a locally run affiliate of HFHI.

Habitat for Humanity Schenectady County gives hope and help to our community by acting as Family Advocate, Builder and Banker, providing decent, affordable housing solutions to families in need of a hand up. By partnering with local volunteers, churches, businesses, and others dedicated to eliminating poverty housing, Habitat builds new and renovated homes for selected Partner families who have a dream of home ownership and meet Habitat's criteria to become successful home owners.

We're excited to join other Habitat affiliates from across NYS for Capitol Build Day on May 26th! At Capitol Build, we'll be framing the walls of a home in front of the Capitol in Albany. This year, the house that is framed will be brought to Schenectady to be included in one of our future homes! Home is the foundation on which we all build our lives, but every day, 1 in 5 people in New York wake up without the security of safe, affordable housing. So let’s open the door to a better future for all through community engagement, volunteerism and advocacy!

We’re still smiling after Saturday night. Nearly 300 people came together for our first-ever Hammer & Ales to support Habitat for Humanity of Schenectady County and The House That Hops Built campaign.

The energy in the room was incredible, and because of this amazing community, the campaign has now raised more than $292,000 toward building three new homes for local families here in Schenectady.

To every sponsor, volunteer, vendor, committee member, staff member, and attendee… Thank You!

This didn’t feel like a fundraiser. It felt like Schenectady showing up for Habitat. Stay tuned for photos from the event...

Happy belated Earth Day! 🌍Thank you to the awesome group of Siena University students who spent last Saturday with us doing a cleanup project in the areas around our current build sites. Just in the span of a few hours on a couple of not very long streets, they cleaned up more than a dozen large bags full of trash. We take this not as indicator that the areas around our build sites are more full of trash than any other place, but that this is unfortunately very typical on many streets in not just this city, but the whole world. We had lots of people stop by or wave from their cars to say thank you, but it is on all of us to look around where we live and be good neighbors by not adding more trash to our streets.
