Friday morning light.

This container reminded me why I love container gardening so much.

These ‘Princess Irene” tulips have been blooming for nearly a month now, still catching the light.

A flower arrangement is lovely, but fleeting. A container garden? It offers that same beauty but with more staying power.

I wrote a little more about this in this month’s blog

Happy May Day…or should I say, hello early summer?

Seattle seems to have skipped ahead a few chapters. With temperatures running warmer than usual, tulips tend to bloom out a bit faster.

My cue that they’ve had their day? When the blooms are opening wide during the day but no longer close back up at night as the temperatures cool, or when the petals begin to shatter.

That’s when I know it’s time to deadhead.

Still pretty, but ready for their curtain call.

A mid-spring wander through the backyard containers.

So many gardens are coming to life right now, and while I’ve loved seeing all the beauty, my own little spring tour begins just steps from my back door with coffee in hand - just as wondrous, just as beautiful.

Because I use these containers to trial different plants and combinations, they’re a bit of a hodgepodge in the best possible way - a rainbow of colors, textures, pots, tulips, and daffodils, all helping me to see what works, what surprises me, and what I might do differently next time.

And the best part? It’s only April.

There’s still more to come before these plantings get changed out in May.

So if one of these combinations strikes a chord save this post or take a screenshot. It’s also the perfect time to start noting favorites and compiling your list for next fall.

Something else I love about spring containers is that they last so much longer than a bouquet on the counter, and are generous enough to snip a few flowers for indoors too.

If you’d like help creating bulbs this kind of spring show, my bulb course is in the Container Design School, linked in the bio.

Image notes:
1. The tour begins.
2. My Meyer lemon tree. And yes, it’s loaded.

10. Narcissus ‘Golden Pearl’
11-12. Tulip ‘Palmyra’ being her velvety luscious self.

Last fall, this planter was all plan and promise. Crescent Garden self-watering planter prepped, soil added, bulbs tucked in, layers planted, and a little faith that spring would do what spring does.

Now here we are. Narcissus Jetfire popping up like fireworks along side Suntory Flowers 'Granvia Crimson Sun', pansies, Heuchera 'Electric Lime', and Tulip praestans 'Moondance' doing exactly what they were meant to do.

One of the perks of speaking is getting to sneak in before the doors open and soak up the magic of the display gardens.

In the quiet, I can feel the heart behind each creation. Every designer has left their own little love notes in the details - tiny moments that make you pause and start a new idea in your head.

A moss pincushion . A color echo so good it makes you grin .gardens . Logs that look like their purpose was always to be a planter (of course) .

The show is a gift to Seattle. If you’re local (or close enough) there’s still time to visit. It runs through Sunday, February 22nd.

And if you come tomorrow, Saturday the 21st, come say Hi. I’m presenting on the Power of Pots: 5 Stories of Transformation, Function and Flair.

It’s February!

Which means , plotting for spring and a giveaway!

The Northwest Flower & Garden Festival is the place to go for fresh garden ideas, inspiration and the kind of learning that has you leaving to go plant something immediately. Whether you’re a seasoned gardener or just starting out, there’s a little something for everyone.

And this week, I’m giving two lucky winners a pair of tickets to the show! And if you’re coming, join me for my talk…

The Power of Pots, 5 Stories of Transformation, Function and Flair.
Saturday, February 21st at 10:45am.

While we’re counting down, here’s some container inspiration from last year, and one from outside the show (me planting a front courtyard planter) because an entry is all about setting a tone - one pot and a time. 😀

PNW January, and look who showed up.

Snowdrops (Galanthus) planted last fall, popping up right on schedule (January 26th is their average “hello” day in my region).

This is the magic of bulbs: designer intention + a little patience. Plant now, thank yourself later.

Spring is coming. Hope is real. New beginnings to remind us hard seasons don’t last forever.

if you’d like to learn how I plant bulbs in containers (in an easy, repeatable way) my bulb course is linked in the bio.

Today’s visit to my favorite coffee shop came with an unexpected delight. Actually…several.

As I walked up to the front door, on this 32 degree morning, I noticed a brand new planter tucked to the left of the entrance. Yes, these are things I notice. 😀
Fresh. Intentional. Cheerful. And welcoming.

So when I ordered my daily vanilla latte, I made mention of it to the owner and her face immediately shifted to surprise. Confused, she turned to the barista who said,

“It must have happened yesterday”.

They had a few guesses about who created it - maybe a customer named Kaitlin.

But here’s the real takeaway -

Someone who appreciates what this little place brings to her day and to the neighborhood, left a gift in return. A sweet little container of beauty. A tiny transformation. An act of kindness.

And those moments ripple. They soften a morning. They lift a mood (it did mine!) They filter down into a community.

So thank you, “Kaitlin”, or whoever you are. You brought a smile to my face and reminded me (again) that container gardening is never just container gardening.

Each pot tells a story. And sometimes changes the whole feeling of a space or someone’s day without saying a word.

If you enjoy stories about transformation and the power of container gardening, I share another in my latest blog post, and January newsletter. 🔗 in the bio.

And if you’re coming to I’m presenting the “Power of Pots” on Saturday, February 21st at 10:45am. It’d be so fun to see you there!

There’s something satisfying about layering a fall container - it’s the art of designing for now and later. Making spring easy.

This one’s part of the and .na Fall Container Design Challenge, and I couldn’t resist tucking in a few spring blooming bulbs beneath the fall color story.

Slide through ⬅️ to see the process step by step - from setting the focal plants to adding bulbs, filling in with seasonal color and the final ta-da moment when it all came together.

It’s the last day to cast your vote. If this fall planting with a promise of spring speaks to you, I’d be so happy if you voted for mine. https://www.crescentgarden.com/form-container-design-challenge-with-suntory/

And, if you want support in creating your own, check out my course “The Art of Planting Spring Blooming Bulbs in Containers” https://thecontainerdesignschool.gardenrevelry.com/the-art-of-planting-spring-blooming-bulbs- Plant now and make spring easy and beautiful.

“To plant a garden is to believe in the future” - Audrey Hepburn

This quote has alway spoken to me, especially when I’m planting fall containers and underplanting with spring blooming bulbs.

There’s something quietly hopeful about tucking a few bulbs beneath the soil now. I suppose it’s optimism - a small act of faith of what’s to come.

Through the gray days of winter, they rest unseen, quietly preparing. And then one morning, when you’ve nearly forgotten them, they appear - cheerful and lovely.

If you’re drawn to Audrey Hepburn or looking to have this soft romantic look…

Comment “THINK SPRING” and I’ll send you the link to “Whispers of Spring” - the recipe behind this fall container and the spring blooms that follow.

HELLO.. it’s me😉

I’ve been here on Instagram for a while now, and thought it was the perfect time to say welcome to new friends and hello again to those who’ve been here with me on this journey.

I’m Cindy, founder of Garden Revelry, and professional container gardener. I’m also a traveler, a book reader, a board gamer, a wife, a mom (and best friend to Tucker the pup🐶). I’m here to inspire, share tips and tricks, and support you in creating your own unique container gardens. I enjoy connecting with others and love sharing my passion for the craft.

A little backstory, I grew up in the Bay Area before coming to Seattle, WA for college. After some adventures abroad, I set my roots here and have stayed ever since. Prior to Garden Revelry, I wore a few different hats. I was a flight attendant, an investment firm gal, a wine seller and worked in the horticulture department at Lake Washington Institute of Technology. Eventually, my love for plants and people led me right where I was always meant to be, designing, mentoring, creating, and showing homeowners and professionals the possibilities and joys of container gardening.

On social media, I like to share my creations, container trends, tips and tricks, my challenges and successes, every day life, and yes Tucker’s garden shenanigans as well!

Outside of designing and planting you’ll find me giving talks, teaching online courses, blogging and connecting with others who share my interest in container gardening. To join me in any these of places visit my website! Link in the bio.

This is all with the goal of helping you find beauty, joy, and possibility in container gardening.

Whether you are looking to be inspired, learn something new, or just enjoy a little green goodness in your feed; I am glad and grateful that YOU are here🪴!
