A bit of fog here this morning, enough to make for great light on the dahlia field. We thought it might be nice to focus on the field today - before we cut the blooms. The farm-stand will be full of cut blooms in a few hours. You can bring dahlias to your house by the stem at $2, and $3 for medium and larger dahlias. We are at 1364 River Road in Sequim from 10 until 7 every day but Monday.

It is a very fine day with a clear sky, decent temperatures, and loads of blooms. And bloom sales were pretty good over the weekend. We sent some Sequim Dahlias all over the state with some very nice folks. And now we are cutting more from the new field. It looks like we made some good choices for new stock. Dahlia Blooms by the stem, and for today there are medium and larger blooms at $2 and $3. We are River Road Flower Farm at 1364 River Road in Sequim every day from 10 until 7 (but closed on Mondays for farm chores).

Blue sky here today, and warm to boot. The dahlias will grow! This is the first pass on the field. Carol cut these and is working on a special project now, so I get to make the second pass. I don't have quite the color sense that Carol does, so I just cut what I like. I will get a lesson on what colors match when I am done 🙂. We have a sunny morning. It is going to be a beautiful day, and even more so if you add some of these blooms. Carol had a good pick this morning. She cuts more from the new field every day and some of these new varieties are extraordinary. Today it looks like she picked medium and larger blooms $2 and $3 a stem, self-serve at 1364 River Road in Sequim from 10 until 7 every day but Monday.

Yesterday was a surprise with the rain and we still had some rain this morning. We made a first pass on the field, and we are going back out now that it has dried a bit. Plenty of blooms and the sun is out. $1, $2, and $3 for small, medium, and larger blooms. From 10 until 7 every day but Monday at 1364 River Road in Sequim.

UPDATE - it rained! A very gentle, perfect rain. And it seems like enough to actually bring some relief to the gardens...

UPDATE - it rained! A very gentle, perfect rain. And it seems like enough to actually bring some relief to the gardens in the region what with the early shutdown of the irrigation systems. And now the sun is out.

We have plenty of blooms in the farm-stand so you can welcome the sun back.

So we had some pretty heavy wind yesterday, but no rain. And that was good. If the blooms had been wet from rain in that wind, they would have all snapped off. But we had no more than a dozen break. And then the sun came out and it was a fine evening. This morning is warmer with some sunny skies, and we have a great pick today. Maybe the widest variety of blooms we have had this season. Still no rain here and the sky suggests there won't be. And it is a good dahlia day. Some of these blooms are from the new field, though Carol held back cutting in that field so we could send them to a wedding tomorrow. Nonetheless, there are some excellent blooms. The weather people are claiming we will get some rain. Maybe, but we have some blue sky here at the moment. It may change before I finish this post. We are cutting more from the new field and so far it is very good. We have some exceptionally nice ball dahlias with strong colors. And there are some water lily dahlias that are exquisite. It is a nice assortment of medium blooms from the new field. Carol is almost through the new field for the first complete disbudding, but I am only a third done with the second tie. Maybe before the rain comes. Today it is all medium and large blooms, $2 and $3. Self Serve, by the stem, cash/check/ or Venmo at 1364 River Road in Sequim, every day (but closed Mondays) from 10 until 7.
