Continuing on with our catch up posting! This was a large Tulip Poplar that the homeowners decided had became an ongoing nuisance due to its growth and the mess it was causing on the deck and scheduled its removal. The tree had outgrown its space and in the fall it was covering the area in a very thick layer of leaves creating a slip and fall hazard on the deck and stairs. It was sad to see this one go but there were not many other options for the owners. This tree was tough; with no access for equipment, this one had to be climbed. With a canopy that covered a majority of the house, deck and landscaping we had to be very cautious and precise with the removal. Our climber made his way to the top and secured his ropes and all the rigging ropes then descended back down to the bottom limbs to start. Every limb had to be let down on ropes and then hand carried away from the deck and landscaping to avoid damage. Once all the limbs and top was gone then the wood had to be let down on rigging. When almost the whole trunk was removed, we could finally stand on the deck and reach the pieces to simply carry them away. The final few cuts were made bringing the tree down to ground level and then the final clean up could be finished!! As always we’re so thankful for our experienced, hard working crew that works hard to protect our customers property. Also thankful for the cool temps, the beautiful scenery and that the rain held off till we were done!!!

Carrying on with posting to catch up on jobs we’ve been doing! This client called after a storm in June of 2020. During the storm her neighbor had a large Oak tree blown over and unfortunately it fell into her tree. Fortunately though, by falling into her tree, it did save both fences being crushed to the ground and the deck on her house being demolished. After her neighbor had the blown over tree removed, our client discovered that the force of the falling tree actually split her tree in half causing it to be damaged beyond repair. She called us and we set about removing what was left. After removing the remaining limbs and brush we fell the trunk and hauled the wood out of the backyard to the street so we could haul it away. No strump removal was requested, so we just cut the stump as low as we could, thoroughly cleaned her backyard and property and were on our way. Thankful for another completed job and as always, our hard working crew, as they had to move everything from the backyard to the front yard for disposal

Finally finding some time and motivation to post some of the jobs we’ve been working on over the last few months!! A long time customer of ours had this very large Oak tree, which had been slowly deteriorating over the last few years, finally die. Our customer gave us a call and we got to work to remove the tree. Fortunately, we were able to use our bucket truck to aid in the removal which makes things much easier on the crew, especially the climbers; as well as, making the job quicker for our clients! We began removing the limbs until only the main trunk was remaining. We then laid the trunk down and began work to remove it from the property. After grinding all the brush, hauling away all the wood, raking the entire area and then hauling away that debris; we then ground out the stump and removed all of the grindings from the area as well. We then filled in all of the stump area with dirt and then repaired all the areas disturbed by taking the tree down. After all the dirt and repairs were made, we over seeded the area with grass seed and covered the dirt areas with straw to encourage we grass to grow. Another fine job by our crew!! Thankful for cool days, good equipment and as always, our hard working crew!

This is another tree from the same job as the previous post. This large Oak has been dead for a couple of years and had began to drop branches and be unsafe to the homeowners. It was also leaning towards a very busy road and had the possibility to cause some serious problems. Once again the bucket truck was instrumental in getting this tree down without having to ask a climber to climb into it. We were able to drop the limbs off into a safe area without having to fall the whole tree and take a chance on reaching the road or damaging a large area of the yard. Once the crew made a pole of the trunk we were able to safely fall it and cut it up into firewood. Very thankful for the bucket truck, beautiful weather and as always our hard working crew!!

Still trying to catch up on posting some jobs that we’ve completed the last few months but not doing a very good job. But here are some before and after pictures from a job we did during the summer. This old Post Oak, located right next to the house, had deteriorated badly over the last few years. The entire top was dead and the only live limbs were heavily weighted towards the house. With the use of the bucket truck we were able to quickly and safely get this tree down and remove it. Then it was on to its big brother which we’ll show in the next post!!

I’ve been lagging behind in keeping our page up! I’ll be posting some pictures from several jobs we’ve been doing the last few weeks. But until then, here are some beautiful pictures of the scenery from where we’ve been the last few days! There’s no place to me like East Tennessee; especially in the fall!!

Well, this doesn’t happen very often but we had a first time experience with this job! As we were finishing up the job in the post before this one, a homeowner from up the street walked down and had a very unusual request. He noticed that we had our bucket truck on the job site and asked if we could retrieve a swarm of bees from one of his hives that had flown up into a tree right above the hive. I’ll admit I was skeptical at first; not wanting to get into a situation where anyone could receive multiple stings or where we would cause harm to a swarm of bees; I hesitated. After asking the hive owner a few questions, looking over the area where the swarm was and asking my crew if they were willing to attempt a rescue, we decided that operation swarm recovery was a go! There was just enough room to back the bucket under the tree and so up they went. The swarm, about as big as a football, was on the end of a long lower limb so the guys were able to use the bucket to come up underneath of the limb and brace it against the bucket as they cut it off. The men cut the limb and lowered it gently till it was hanging straight down. Since it was a little cool that morning the bees weren’t very active which worked in our favor but they did begin to move and fly around. They then lowered the bucket till the hive owner could reach the swarm and then he just snipped the small branches off and placed them into a hive that was ready for a new colony! The whole operationwent very smoothly and was a great success! Thankful for the bucket truck, willing crew members, an abnormally cool morning and NO STINGS!!

Here are some before and after pictures from a job we completed last week. This one was a little tricky at first but once we got going everything went very smoothly! During the storm early Monday morning on the 13th, 2 medium size trees, a Hickory and a Cherry were blown over into 2 different Oak trees all of which were leaning towards an old barn on the neighbors property. The smaller Oak held most of the weight and the larger Oak was only slightly involved; at first. Upon inspection of the trees involved we discovered that the larger Oak was also beginning to uproot. The ground on the backside of the tree was heaving up due to the roots being pulled out of the ground by the wind and weight of the tree. We determined that the Oak was still safe to climb so our climber went up into the Oak and used it as a tie in point to be able to descend into the other 2 trees that were blown over into the smaller Oak. We then removed all of the limbs that weren’t holding pressure until we could eventually cut the trees loose. Fortunately the trees weren’t uprooted to the point to where they fell on their own and we just cut and fell them one at a time. Then we set about removing the larger Oak. It went very quickly as we were able to cut large sections out a time till we got down to where we could fall the trunk without damaging another tree. Thankful that the situation wasn’t more dangerous than it was, that these trees were in the woods and able to be dropped with no cleanup and as always for our hard working crew.

Here are a few before and after pictures from a job we completed a couple of weeks ago. This large White Pine was healthy 6 months ago. But then it was attacked by borers that quickly destroyed the vascular system of the tree by eating their way around the tree just underneath the bark in the cambium layer. This tree showed some slight discoloring in the top about 3 months ago and was half dead by the first week of April. It also began to lose several large limbs due to their weakness as they died. We took the tree down and ground all of the brush and the homeowners took care of the wood. Very thankful for great working weather, homeowners that offer to remove a section of fence and as always our hard working crew!

Still trying to catch up on posting old jobs, here are some before and after pictures of a job that we completed in January. This was a large Virginia Pine that was broken up in a storm that came through around the second week of January of this year. This Pine originally had 3 very large leaders, that were each like trees, but had lost one of those leaders in a storm in 2019. The homeowners had asked us to clean the original mess up and were pleased with our work so the called again when they lost the second leader. After looking at the condition of the tree and what was left, the homeowner made the decision to remove the remainder of the tree and just leave the trunk standing. This was one of the nastiest Pine that we have worked on!! The density of the brush and sheer amount of razor sharp pine cones was amazing. The crew set about cleaning up the mess that was on the ground first then climbed the tree and took off the remaining leader. Probably close to 4 tons of chips came from this tree not including the wood!! Thankful for the cool weather to work on this job; long sleeves and jackets prevented many small cuts from the seed cones! And as always, thankful for our hard working crew that had this job knocked out in just a few hours.

Trying to catch up on posting some jobs that we’ve done that I’ve been slacking on posting! Here are some before and after pictures from a job that we finished around Christmas. This was the largest Pear tree I can recall us working on. It had been planted over 50 years ago by the current homeowners parents. We had been caring for it for about the last 40 years but it had just become to large and had begun to lose limbs. Also, due to its location so close to the house, sidewalk and driveway, it made a tremendous mess every year when it would drop its fruit. The homeowners decided that it was time so we removed it. There were a couple of tons of chips and wood from this specimen!! Thankful for the favorable weather to work before Christmas, for continued relationships with our customers and as always for our hard working crew!
