This week's project: raise the floors in what will be the dining room, primary bathroom and walk-in closet. They were about 3" lower than the rest of the house. Now, we're ready for laced-in hardwoods and tile (eventually 😜).

We also had to raise the exterior side door as well.

It’s a beautiful fall day at the cottage. 🍁We have new windows, are in the process of getting a new furnace/air conditioner and are starting to frame up new walls. It’s getting fun!

It’s an itty bitty room, but we have construction instead of destruction. Hall bath with new tub, plumbing, floors, drywall and GoBoard in the shower (goes under tile). We’re actually making a bit of progress!

Week? Who knows? We’ve lost track! 🥴

Casey took out the (multiple layers) of flooring in the main bath. We’ll start over with new.

We removed the concrete hearth. It will be tiled at a later date. I German Schmeared the fireplace, to cover up the black mortar. Do you love it?

Week 17 -

New roof getting started today (if they show up).

Dumpster #6 being picked up today. Geez.

The stray kitty (Jasper), in the neighborhood, ran to me today. I’ll be petting him soon! ❤️

Update: roofers DIDN’T show up. They are supposed to start tomorrow. Ugh.

Week 14 -

While the house was being painted, we gutted the upstairs - to the studs!

Well, there’s still a bit of the crumbling particle-ish board left that we found beneath the wood paneling. We’re almost done. Of course, we still need to clean up!

Maybe we both wish we were painting! 😜

Week 14 -We had the cottage painted! 🥰Next up, windows and roof.

Week 9 - The back story 😊

The back of the house (enclosed porch and add on - above the garage) was covered with vinyl siding. The add on section had only paper thin rotted wood beneath that.

This week, we removed the vinyl siding, rebuilt the deteriorated exterior walls, added a window (primary bathroom shower), reframed the garage opening, wrapped the house, added metal lath and had it stuccoed.

The stucco is still wet in the photos, but it looks better already!

Week 8 -

Finally got the entire wall out, between the former dining room and kitchen. It will now be an open, bright kitchen. ☀️

We found an old exterior stucco wall, between the bedroom and office walls. Kinda cool. We wondered if the stucco was original or covering brick. Now we know.

Week 7 - The past couple weeks have been a bit slow and ugly. We’ve spent a lot of time getting quotes for painting, stucco and a roof. We’re still taking walls down (that’s the slow and ugly part).

We did hang a new outdoor light, mailbox and new house numbers. There’s a little bit of cute stuff!
