Great article explaining why closing your vents is counter-productive. The best way to limit airflow is by closing dampers located right by the main trunk of your supply run. Doing that will increase airflow to the remaining supply vents if the ductwork can handle the additional air flow. If you have any questions feel free to message us!

Closing vents in unused rooms seems like an energy-efficient choice, but the truth is more complex. Find out what happens when you close vents in unused rooms.

Is your furnace showing its age? Learn the signs that it’s time to upgrade and how a new Bryant system can save energy and improve comfort this winter.

With the upcoming frigid weather a few things to remember.

1. Your furnace will run nearly 24/7 it most likely will not shut off.

2. Make sure that your filter is new, clean, to allow for good airflow.

3. Pull your drapes, close window treatments, make sure your doors are closed.

4. DO NOT CLOSE VENTS TO OTHER ROOMS. YOUR FURNACE IS SIZED TO YOUR HOME NOT JUST THE ROOMS YOU USE.

5. If you have water on your floor under your furnace the condensate line is most likely blocked. That will need to be cleaned out to allow the condensation created by your furnace to drain and not shut off the furnace.

6. If you are out of heat call our office at (920)467-1536. We understand that the volume of calls we are going to recieve is going to be high, please understand this as well, we will do our best to get to you as quickly as possible. Thank you in advance for your patience.

As old as the HVAC industry is, things are always evolving. We have had a few calls lately of the furnaces shutting down because of restricted air flow. Having a dirty filter is a common reason for your furnace to shut off if you weren't already aware. Lately, however, we have pulled filters out that look perfectly clean, making us dig deeper and checking static pressure. Static pressure is the air pressure on the return vs supply side of the heat runs. What we have found is that scent diffusers are causing the filter to get blocked up by the chemicals being released into the air that gets pushed into your filter restricting air flow. Professionally we are not a fan of these types of chemicals as they are full of chemicals that are not good for our lungs, adding harmful chemicals into the environment you live in. If you are trying to remove smells in your home, consider whether duct cleaning, uv lighting or new carpeting is in order. We do not do duct cleaning as typically it is not necessary but if the smells are lingering in the ductwork it would be an option to look at. UV lighting will, over time, remove smells in your home that is airborn. If you have any questions feel free to reach out to Steve for an air quality assessment at no cost to find out what would be best for your home.
