This Earth Day, QC10 Architects is taking a moment to reflect on what sustainability means to our firm. For us, it is a continuous approach to how we design and build, guiding decisions from the earliest concepts through long-term performance, with a focus on creating spaces that are both resilient and responsible.

Our approach includes:
• Designing buildings that perform efficiently over time
• Prioritizing durable, low-impact materials that support longevity
• Creating outdoor spaces that strengthen both community and ecology
• Maximizing resource efficiency and life cycle continuity

We believe sustainability isn’t defined by a single moment or milestone — lasting design starts with everyday choices.

Shoutout to our talented intern Logan Gilbertz for the beautiful photo.

Projects like the Goose Creek Transit bus shelters show how even small interventions can make a meaningful impact on daily life in a community. What began as transit infrastructure has evolved into a shared public space, supporting uses beyond travel and urban mobility.

These stops provide shelter, comfort, and a place to pause. Near the YMCA and Heritage Towers, one of these bus shelters has become a gathering point, used not only by bus users, but by residents who simply want a place to sit, rest, and connect.

We’re proud to see our work become an integral space for community engagement and everyday use!

Originally built in 1882, the historic Big Red Ranch House at the Ucross Foundation in Wyoming is nearing completion after a careful restoration and renovation. For more than a century, the building has been part of the historic ranch landscape that today supports one of the country’s leading artist residency programs. Soon, it will continue that role as office space for Ucross staff.

The restoration has focused on preserving the building’s late-19th and early-20th century character while carefully adapting it for modern use. Exterior finishes and flooring have been replaced, structural issues addressed, and new HVAC, plumbing, and electrical systems installed. Additionally, accessibility improvements, including a new ramp and updates to the first-floor restroom, help ensure the building is welcoming and accessible to all members of the residency community.

Inside, minimal changes restore the original 1882 floor plan while allowing the space to function comfortably as a modern office. With walls being painted, and final touches underway, the Big Red Ranch House is entering its final chapter of restoration, ready for many more years supporting the creative work that defines the Ucross ranch.

We are thrilled to welcome Dreen Fincham to our team!

Dreen Fincham joined QC10 Architects in 2026 after earning her graduate degree in architecture from the University of Colorado. Her path to the profession reflects a diverse background that combines design, technical discipline, and a global perspective.

Prior to pursuing architecture, Dreen studied marketing and communications at the Monash University campus in Johannesburg, South Africa. After relocating to the United States, she worked with interior design firms in Miami, where her interest in the built environment first began to take shape.

Seeking to establish herself in her new country, Dreen later joined the military, where she served as an Apache helicopter maintainer while earning a Bachelor of Science in Business Administration. This experience strengthened her technical problem-solving abilities and attention to precision while also cultivating a strong business mindset, qualities she brings to her work in architecture today.

Dreen is particularly interested in sustainable construction strategies and innovative material applications that enhance architectural spaces for their users while fostering environmental stewardship through thoughtful and intentional design. Her academic research explores material reuse and environmentally responsive design approaches.

Please join us in welcoming Dreen to Sheridan!
