Quick note about tankless water heaters during . If you have a tankless water heater, they have built-in heaters inside the unit that prevent freezing. However, if you lose power these heaters can not operate and you lose the freeze protection feature. There are two things you can do if you find yourself in this situation.
1. If you have a generator, run an extension cord to the unit to power it.
2. Turn on some hot water taps in your home to keep water flowing through the unit. Running water is less likely to freeze. You want to have a pretty decent flow, not fully open but maybe about half open though one fixture.
