This is one of those things that separates “covering concrete” from actually solving problems.

We ran into some vertical displacement at a joint on this floor. The floor isn’t even finished yet, and before I put the walk-behind grinder over it, I have to take a hand grinder and knock down the high side so I don’t wreck the machine.

Could someone have just left it? Absolutely.

But then we would have potentially left the customer with a trip hazard that would still be there after the floor was completed.

Do we know if the concrete will ever move again? No. That’s always a risk with concrete and, ultimately, Mother Nature. But that doesn’t mean we should ignore an issue that we can address today.

Our job isn’t just to make concrete look good. It’s to identify issues, address them when we can, and deliver a finished floor that is actually better than what we started with.

You can cover a problem, or you can solve it. We’d rather solve it.

What’s Underneath Matters. 👊🏼

Not every concrete floor is as sound as it looks.

In this video, you can see us uncovering delaminating concrete—areas that were no longer properly bonded and were breaking loose with nothing more than a hammer.

-Luckily it was only one small section.

This is exactly why proper surface preparation matters.

Sometimes we run into hidden damage, weak concrete, old coatings, contamination, or imperfections that you simply can’t see until you start removing the surface. When we find it, we address it. We don’t just cover it up and hope nobody notices.

Unfortunately, there are contractors who either don’t have the experience to recognize these problems—or choose to ignore them because fixing them takes additional time and work.

At Victory Concrete Coatings, we believe the right way to do the job is to do it right—even when the customer never sees what happened underneath the finished floor.

Because what’s underneath your coating matters just as much as what’s on top.

We took this small step into the house and gave it the same finish as the garage floor—and it completely cleaned up the transition. 🔥

We brought the entire stair set back to the shop and gave it a double broadcast of Coyote flake, creating a durable, seamless finish that ties everything together.
