We just finished this project. Look what some paint and woodgraining (what the French call faux bois) can do to revitalize old, yellow stairs! When refinishing is not an option, we can use primer, paint and glaze to create a wood look in a variety of colors and woodgrain textures that is as durable as the original wood. Also good for cabinets, walls and whatever.

This was our most recent project...another Lisa design. As is often the case, the pics do not do this finish justice. We did a faux grass cloth / horizontal pattern in a deep black/brown, then applied a funky pattern in gold leaf. It was very dramatic, and really beautiful.

Please don't tell the Vatican about this! We actually did the original work on this ceiling over 25 years ago. You can see a before picture there that I took before we redid the sky. We left the figure painting of the "Pull my Finger". That was done by a wonderful artist by the name of Jeff Mack who worked for me at the time. Jeff is now a children's book author and illustrator. Look him up and get one of his books...he is awesome! The house had a new owner (the second since we completed the original project) and the ceiling needed some repair. I suggested we brighten up the sky and clouds. The end result was much brighter and cleaner!

I am not a Facebook guy...that should be obvious from the length of time since my last post. But I want be sure that people know that we're still alive and well, and still in business. Patrick and I have been keeping very busy since the last post, with lots of plaster finishes, woodgraining, graphics and many other great projects. I just have been lax in keeping up with this page. So here goes- What follows is a picture dump with some brief explanations.

We recently had the opportunity to "reimagine" a decorative ceiling that our client uncovered in the process of trying to repair the master bedroom ceiling in their beautiful historic home in downtown Albany. The ceiling had to be completely replastered due to the condition, but we were able to use what was uncovered to capture pattern and colors. Unfortunately the lighting was awful on the day we finished, so we could only get a picture of a small section. I will post additional pics once the new ligjting is installed and the bedroom is put back together.
