For those of you who are new to the page or just finding out about Laniers Handyman, I thought I'd give you a little information about us, and our vision for this business.
My name is Nicki, I am the person who you will first talk to you when you call. I'm the one who sets up estimates and schedules. I am the one who replies to text messages and any concerns you have. I handle all the invoices, and delays. I am the mom, the wife, the teacher, the assistant coach, the team mama, Kele's assistant and the overall Chaos coordinator.
Kele, my husband, is the man you meet in person for our always free estimates. He is a Tuolumne County resident from birth. He's the jack of all trades but the master of carpentry. Building things with wood is his favorite thing to do. Decks, stairs and fencing are his most requested and desired projects. He absolutely nails them! Animal shelters, small sheds, sliding barn doors and other buildings made from wood are his second favorite things to build. He has done home construction, road construction, can operate heavy equipment, build retaining walls and install drainage. He coaches for and sponsors t-ball and soccer. His family is well known in the community as well. He is honest (he won't recommend anything unless absolutely necessary!) And dependable. He may be late (I will always communicate with potential clients about delays) but he will always show up. Kele is also in the process of becoming a licensed contractor, and just waiting for the state to approve the application.
Together we have one beautiful little girl. She is the reason we do what we do. For awhile, her dad was gone for days on end working hours away. We'd barely get a full 2 days with him on the weekends. Something needed to give, find a job closer, or start our own business. We decided to start our own business. It was the best decision we ever made. It opened up so many opportunities for us as a family, it created an option for us to make our own schedule, our own way, our own life. Having him at home for dinner at night has been life changing. It also allowed him to be able to support all her activities! So don't be surprised if you ever see a blonde hair, blue eyed angel (she really is an angel) show up for an estimate. It is one of her favorite things to do with her dad. She also helps him prepare for jobs he has by helping him load up tools, clean out the trailer or just keeping him company. When she's not helping us, she's at her Grandmas tax business (Flavin and Associates, if you need any taxes/bookkeeping/notary/trusts done).
Our story-
In March of 2023, Keles mom got very sick. She was rushed to the hospital where she had to have some serious problems addressed. Kele was 4 hours away and had been there for 6 weeks at that point, working 12-14 hour shifts 7 days a week. It would be another week before we'd be able to see him. When he got the call about his mom, he packed up and headed home. It was a wake up call for him and the entire family. He needed to be closer to home for not only his parents but for his daughter as well. After his mom fully recovered, he had to make a decision. Om April 15th 2023 we started LaNier's Handyman. We advertised, made flyers, and posted digitally. Our first client called on April 16th and he was able to fix what needed to be fixed. From then on we got calls daily and after a few weeks 90% of our calls were from clients who recommended Kele to their friends, family and neighbors. One year later we are consistently booked out anywhere from 3-6 weeks (with a few empty days for smaller projects). Clients are excited and willing to wait for our services and we are ever so grateful for our past clients, future clients and our repeat clients.
Give us a call or text, day or night (don't be surprised if I actually answer after 9pm, I'm a nightowl!). Let us help you with your projects. We look forward to hearing from you.
