When we haul your stuff away, it doesn't all go to the landfill.

Today is International Day of Charity. Felt like a good day to say this out loud.

Anything from a cleanout that's still usable gets donated. Furniture, tools, household items and if someone else can use it, it goes to them. The rest gets recycled.

You're calling us because you need it gone. But what you're clearing out might still end up doing some good for somebody who needs it. That's always been important to us, and it's how we handle every job.

Got a call from Liz, a property manager I've worked with before on apartment cleanouts. She saw one of our posts about pressure washing and wanted to know if we could handle a commercial job.

The job: a strip mall on South Hill with 9 businesses, plus a bank and a GameStop in the same parking lot.

The catch: we had to work around all 11 businesses and their hours. I went out, wrote down every store's hours, and found the water supply points before I ever touched the equipment. Scheduled it for a weekend and started before sunrise so the early-opening businesses were done before their doors opened.

Day one I knocked out the main building by noon. Day two I came back for the smaller one andstarted with GameStop while they were still closed, then moved to the bank. Squeegeed every window on both buildings to make sure there were no water spots, then ran a surface cleaner across the sidewalks before pressure washing everything clean.

A few of the business owners and employees came out to check the work. Said it looked great. One pizza place came out and gave me a pizza as a thank-you.

11 to 12 hours across two days. The businesses stayed open, their customers were barely impacted, and the property looks sharp.

Haydn Halsted is a property investor remodeling a house in Airway Heights. Previous tenants left the garage packed when they moved out. Some remodel debris piled in there too. He called for a quote, I came out and looked at it, gave him a fair number, and he accepted it.

Since the property was close to my full-time job, I put it on the schedule for Monday right after work. Full trailer load, done in about an hour and a half. The contractor asked if I could take a couple extra items on the way out. Said yes, kept the same price.

Swept the garage floor before I left.

Haydn's got a clean, empty garage now and his remodel can keep moving.
